Release Notes

This is a release candidate (RC) version, it is meant to test this new version and should not be installed on any production site. Please test clean install and upgrade scenarios as well as 3rd-party modules and your own custom modules using this RC and report back any regression issues.

Important

If you are upgrading DNN from an earlier version, please follow the Suggested Upgrade Path.
Starting with DNN 10.2.0 a new upgrade process has been put in place to make upgrades more reliable. Read more about it in the documentation.

We'd like to first thank everyone from the community who has submitted pull requests, reviewed changes, or reported issues.

A grand total of 72 pull requests with contributions from 11 contributors were processed for this release.

Important

Testing

This version adds and improves some important core features, we would like to call special attention to testing the following area:

  • #7453 improves support in sitemap for multi-language sites. We would like your feedback on this change to verify it works as intended for different localization scenarios.
  • #7439 introduces a new module called Bulk Install. This was a gracious donation to the platform from Cantarus, it works essentially the same except it was migrated to be integrated into the PersonaBar and uses DNN API Tokens. It allows installing multiple extensions at once with a single restart and it orders them as per their inter-dependencies. It also has a secure endpoint that allows installing modules from a client tool locally or from CI scenarios. See this documentation for more details.
  • #7418 Fixes some issues with default.css. We don't expect this to break existing implementations but considering the importance of this very global file we are specially interested in feedback from theme/extension developers about those changes.
  • #7044 replaces Log4Net in favour of Serilog using standard Microsoft .Net abstractions. All the existing logging APIs are redirected to this new provider and we don't except this to be a breaking change, however we are interested in some testing about different ways people might use logging. Clear obsolescence messages should guide developers on what to change to use the new way.

Issues prefixed with (RC2) below are things fixed in RC2 that were not present in RC1, we recommend re-testing is any of those may affect you.
