LUNA 2.0.0 Stable
LUNA 2.0.0 Stable
Library and controls
- Replaced Grid with a new 3D view: a 6x4 display of game cases, a larger selected cover, focus animation, and page navigation.
- Refined its cover/disc layouts, artwork transitions, and paging.
- Improved Collections cover layering, glide, previews, and held L2/R2 fast scanning.
- Improved Orbit navigation, depth, artwork reuse, and Random Scan; navigation cancels a scan.
- Refined Scroll with title/logo artwork and placeholders for missing images. (Experimental)
- Added view switches in Options. List, Collections, Orbit, and 3D are enabled by default; Scroll remains optional. LUNA remembers the selected view.
- Added left-stick menu navigation and clearer button prompts.
- Added an R1 quick menu for Favorites, Options, and Orbit Random Scan. Favorites filtering now works across all library views, with direct R1 button shortcuts.
Appearance and settings
- Reworked Options into Game, Global, Views, and Orbs tabs, with smoother selection, clearer save feedback, and glass-theme previews.
- Added glass colors, a PSBBN font choice, and more background choices: Red Clouds, Midnight Cubes, and System Configuration, alongside Stars & cubes and Ambient Orbs.
- Added PS2 original/LUNA orb behavior and appearance, plus separate orb and tail colors.
- Refined the splash screen, glass panels, stars, crystals, menu transitions, and System Configuration rendering. Corrected backdrop artifacts and improved font texture retention.
- Added global and per-game PS2 startup-logo settings, saved video-output modes, field flipping, compatibility controls, and a per-game option to disable IGR.
- Experimental features are labeled Experimental and can cause slowdowns on PS2 hardware. This includes background options and Scroll view.
Artwork and responsiveness
- Added artwork preloading, shared caches, and thumbnail reuse across views.
- Improved artwork priority over music, cache cleanup, and texture reuse during scrolling and view changes.
- Added oversized-cover safeguards: selected artwork keeps the highest resolution that safely fits the texture budget. Images are reduced proportionally when necessary, and textures that cannot fit use a smaller preview or placeholder.
Storage, cards, and runtime
- Added Storage Devices to enable, disable, and rescan connected sources, save preferences, and configure the UDPFS console IP address. Internal ATA/exFAT HDD remains the supported performance target.
- Added a main menu with storage access, Virtual Memory Cards, File Explorer, Exit, and Shutdown, including access when no games are found.
- Added VMC creation and per-game slot assignment, card validation, and more reliable settings and card-file writes. APA/PFS VMCs are supported for HDL games using the mounted metadata partition, normal boot, 8 KiB PFS zones, and card files within the supported fragment limits. See the README for details.
- Added a File Explorer with copying, moving, renaming, and folder creation. Its current interface is marked Under construction and requires an access code.
- Improved in-game return to LUNA and physical power-button handling.
Music and package
- Music is now optional. The soundtrack is supplied separately in
Ambient-Music-Add-On; it is not installed inAPP_LUNAby default. - To add music, copy only
ambient.wavintomc0:/APP_LUNA, restart LUNA, and enable Triangle → Global → Ambient sound, then save with Start. See the included README for instructions and removal steps. - Updated the README, credits, source-fork references, and installation guidance. The complete FMCB package includes matching runtime files, licenses, and SHA-256 checksums.
Install
Download LUNA-v2.0.0-FMCB-mc0.zip, extract it, and copy the complete APP_LUNA folder to mc0:/APP_LUNA. Point your FMCB entry to mc0:/APP_LUNA/luna.elf. Games and artwork stay on the HDD. The application uses about 1.4 MB on the memory card; optional music adds about 1.3 MB.
Validation
The hardware launcher and matching Neutrino runtime built successfully. Host tests, the runtime memory-budget check, package checksums, and all archived file contents passed verification.
