The Sexual Repression Index (SRI) is a psychometric instrument designed to help individuals gain structured, non-judgmental insight into the ways cultural, familial, or personal conditioning may have shaped their relationship with sexuality.
Built on the Dual Control Model of Sexual Response (Bancroft & Janssen, 2000) and validated across multiple cultural contexts (English, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese), the SRI measures four distinct psychological dimensions:
| Dimension | Description |
|---|---|
| Avoidance (ๅ้ฟ) | Tendency to avoid sexual topics, thoughts, or encounters |
| Guilt (็ฝชๆชๆ) | Internalized moral or religious guilt related to sexual thoughts/acts |
| Shame (็พ่ปๅฟ) | Embodied shame and discomfort with sexual identity or feelings |
| Inhibition (ๆๅถ / SIS) | Neurological and psychological braking of sexual response |
See /docs/METHODOLOGY.md for the full theoretical background and cross-cultural validation approach.
