Feat: Roof Rack for Delivery Van TOYOTA PROACE 1.6 D4D (MDX9) 90  #98

Description

@nelsonic

Context

We recently acquired a TOYOTA PROACE (1.6 D4D (MDX9) 90) Delivery Panel Van
specifically to accelerate the completion of our @home project.

Don't worry, we definitely didn't buy a new one that would be an insane waste of cash!
We did a ton of research and looked at quite a few vans ... and ended up finding one below market price.
We spent 9,400 after negotiating down from €9,950.
and we expect it to hold it's value very well in the coming months/years as these vans are very sought after in PT.
Sadly, the listing for our van has been taken down by OLX once it was sold ... 🙄
But - as you can imagine - we have screenshots:

The van is in very good condition. We could easily sell it for a profit immediately if we wanted to.
I didn't find anything comparable online for less than €12k.
But we are going need to use it a lot in the next few months as we finish the build @home.
As noted in https://github.com/dwyl/home/tree/main/furniture I expect to be making 100% piece of furniture
Hoping to ramp up from my current rate of 1 item per month, to 1 item per fortnight, then 1 per week
and eventually 1 per day. But what I want more than the pace of making things is to capture the process.
More on that over in: https://github.com/dwyl/video/issues

What?

I want to either buy or make a roof rack specifically for transporting full-size 2500x1200mm sheet materials.
So that I can bring full-size sheets home from the lumber store and put them directly into the Laser Cuter.

Todo

  • Measure the size of the roof
  • Research Available Roof Racks either from local suppliers or online.
