FireFrame 1.1.2
FireFrame has a new, colorful icon.
- Icon and banner. The rounded frame now opens at one corner and flares into a flame, on an orange to magenta tile. You will see it in the Fire TV app list and settings.
Update from FireFrame's Settings at the top right. On 1.0.x, update by hand once: git pull, then ./fireframe.sh install <tv-ip>.
FireFrame 1.1.1
Fixes for FireFrame's settings menu, from @LoneWolf36 in #2, FireFrame's first community contribution. Thank you!
- Fire TV settings stays open now. Before, it jumped straight back to FireFrame.
- Amazon home screen now actually shows Amazon's home screen, instead of leaving FireFrame in front.
- Home always brings you back to FireFrame, even after visiting Settings or Amazon's home screen.
Update from FireFrame's Settings at the top right. On 1.0.x, update by hand once: git pull, then ./fireframe.sh install <tv-ip>.
Tested by @LoneWolf36 on a Fire TV Stick 4K Max (AFTKA), Fire OS 7.7.1.3.
FireFrame 1.1.0
FireFrame now updates itself.
Once a day it checks this repo for a new release. When there is one, it tells you on the home screen and adds Update to FireFrame x.y.z to Settings at the top right. Pick it and choose Install when the TV asks. Amazon's home screen shows for a couple of seconds while Android swaps the app, then FireFrame comes back on its own with your dock, wallpaper and Home button as they were.
Coming from 1.0.0 or 1.0.1? Update by hand this one time: git pull, then ./fireframe.sh install <tv-ip>. Every update after this one comes from the TV.
New permissions: internet access, to check for releases, and installing apps, for the update itself. fireframe.sh install allows FireFrame to install its updates so Fire OS doesn't ask about unknown sources.
Tested on a Fire TV Stick HD (AFTSS), Fire OS 7.7.1.4.
FireFrame 1.0.1
Shrinks the Amazon launcher flash on Home.
FireFrame now listens for Amazon's own unguarded com.amazon.tv.launcher.HOME_PRESSED broadcast and shows its overlay on it, which lands about half a second before the accessibility window event used before. In testing Amazon's home screen no longer shows on a Home press. It's a reaction, not a block, so a flicker is still possible on a slow frame; only root removes the launcher outright.
Also: picking a dock app in the 5 seconds after Home now opens it instantly (via Amazon's own launch path, behind the overlay) instead of waiting, and Home always returns focus to the dock.
Tested on a Fire TV Stick HD (AFTSS), Fire OS 7.7.1.4.
FireFrame 1.0.0
First release. A clean home screen for the Amazon Fire TV Stick, no root.
- Photo wallpaper, clock and a frosted glass dock of your apps

- Opens by itself after a restart
- App drawer: hold OK or press Menu to add, move or remove dock apps
- Five public domain NASA wallpapers, or your own with
./fireframe.sh wallpaper ./fireframe.sh debloatturns off Amazon ads, tracking and bloat in groups;./fireframe.sh undoreverses it
Tested on a Fire TV Stick HD (AFTSS), Fire OS 7.7.1.4.
