Plastic preperation

Shred the plastic with a shredding machine, there are high rpm shredders from China that work and low rpm shredders from Precious Plastic that can be built or brought. Which ever type you use make sure it has a 4mm mesh filter.

For our Chinese shredder, we first remove the caps, rims and labels and wash the bottles if they are at all dirty. Then after they dry we cut them into smaller peace's, scrape off the glue that holds the label on and then feed them into our shredder. After shredding we put the shredded plastic through a sieve, also with 4mm wholes to remove any large peace's that got pushed out of the shredder.

Note that we also sort the plastic into different bottle types as different bottles print differently even though they are all PET.

We do not put the shredded PET in a dryer, we find it prints fine without drying.
