Requirements

Warning

Not running Forge Neo? Use the anxety-solo fork instead. This extension targets Gradio 4 exclusively and will not work correctly on Automatic1111 or Forge Classic.

First run

The extension appears as a CivitAI Browser Neo tab with five sub-tabs: Browser, Download Queue, Local Models, Organization, and Dashboard.

Two things are worth setting up before you start:

  1. API key — Settings → CivitAI Browser Neo → Personal CivitAI API key. Required to download early-access, paid, and private models. Create one in your CivitAI account settings. Requires a UI reload.
  2. Domain — SFW only (use civitai.com) is off by default, which routes API calls through civitai.red (the full catalog). Turn it on to restrict everything to civitai.com. See Settings Reference.

Nothing else is required. Auto-organization, LoRA category sorting, and the native card theme are all opt-in — see Auto-Organization and Native Extra Networks Cards.

Multiple model directories

Forge Neo can register more than one directory per model type:

--ckpt-dirs "D:\checkpoints" --lora-dirs "G:\LORAS" --lora-dirs "H:\more-loras"

These are append-style flags, so repeating one adds another directory rather than replacing it. The extension handles them as follows:

  • Reading — every directory is scanned. Installed detection, organization, metadata verification and the Local Models tab see models in all of them, matching what Forge itself lists.
  • Writing — a new download goes to the first directory given for that type. Use the Custom sub-folder field on the download panel if you need it somewhere else.
  • The default folder (models/Lora, models/Stable-diffusion, models/VAE) stays in the scan even when extra directories are configured.

Without these flags nothing changes, and on Automatic1111 or Forge Classic — where the flags do not exist — they are simply never consulted.

Optional: Aria2

Downloads use Aria2 by default for multi-connection speed. If your environment blocks it, turn off Download models using Aria2 in Settings → CivitAI Browser Neo — Downloads and the extension falls back to a plain HTTP download. Aria2 must also be off when downloading through a proxy.

Updating

Extensions → Check for updates, or git pull inside extensions/sd-civitai-browser-neo. Your settings, favorites, and creator lists live outside the extension folder and survive updates.
