Diskoryx v1.0.3
A faster scan pipeline, new ways to explore your storage, and more control over saved results — with disk analysis kept offline.
New features
- Duplicate Finder: analyze a selected drive, explore the largest duplicate groups in an interactive chart, and search, sort or expand matching paths. Defaults to user files, with an explicit entire-drive option. Duplicate matches require full-file SHA-256 verification; nothing is automatically deleted.
- Saved scans: save scan metadata to a local
.diskoryxscanfile and reopen it read-only without scanning the source drive. - Compare: compare a saved scan with a fresh scan of its original location to see added, removed and metadata-changed files.
- Advanced search: filename wildcards, size and modification-date conditions, and AND / OR / NOT expressions.
- Portable edition: launch without installation. Settings and history still use
%APPDATA%\Diskoryx V1. - Source CLI: read-only folder scanning and CSV export through Node.js.
Performance and usability
- Faster MFT data transfer and indexing.
- Duplicate analysis reuses completed full-drive inventories, filters unique sizes, samples large candidates before full hashing, and validates metadata concurrently.
- Compact duplicate dashboard with summary cards, top-group charts and paged results.
- Improved multi-drive selection, cached-location switching, Copy/Move destination navigation and completion feedback.
- Updated documentation, screenshots and benchmark evidence.
Measured scan performance
Three repeated real C: MFT scans per version on the same machine, covering approximately 774,500 files:
| Version | Median scan + indexing time |
|---|---|
| v1.0.1 | 7.951 s |
| v1.0.3 | 4.400 s |
44.7% less scan/indexing time in this local comparison. These were warm/repeated runs on a changing NTFS volume, not cold-cache trials or a universal speed guarantee. Scanner timings exclude UAC waiting.

Reliability and security
- Fixed Compare cancellation, lost live notifications after Copy/Move, and volume-identity preservation when re-saving scan archives.
- Prevented CLI exports from overwriting a racing destination without
--force. - Added resource budgets and cancellation checks for costly saved-scan imports.
- Passed 406 regression tests, 6 Rust tests and 28 automated Electron interface scenario groups, with additional packaged-launch and Windows integration checks.

Important notes
- This is an unsigned, early testing release. Windows SmartScreen may display a warning.
- Launch Diskoryx normally, not as administrator. Only the separate NTFS scanner requests UAC.
- Diskoryx reports logical file sizes, not allocated “Size on disk”.
- Duplicate contents are not proof that a file is safe to remove. Reused inventories describe the last completed scan; Rescan to include newer files.
- Compare checks paths, sizes and recorded modification dates, not file contents or renames.
- A known low-severity Windows shell recycle race remains: a concurrent process with relevant directory-modification rights can change an item between validation and recycling. No privilege escalation was demonstrated. Keep backups and avoid file actions in actively contested/shared directories.
- Clean-account installation/uninstallation acceptance remains outstanding; automated checks do not certify every Windows configuration.
Disk analysis stays local. Saved scans and CSV files may contain private names and paths — inspect them before sharing.
