0.3.36
Gameplay
- Ankh of Reincarnation now plays out like the game: the hero falls, lies under the grave and rises to the Reincarnation sound. Only one Ankh is spent per death, and a hero with Reincarnation uses the spell before the Ankh. The Tauren Chieftain and creeps with Reincarnation also lie under the grave.
- Items on the ground can be attacked and destroyed.
- Kelen's Dagger of Escape works like the Warden's Blink.
- Cloak of Shadows hides its hero during the day too, and shows its Hide button.
- Amulet of Spell Shield shows its icon, flashes once when it blocks a spell, and no longer blocks line spells.
- Dust of Appearance reveals a hidden creep without waking its camp.
- The Moonstone's night stays still, with no dawn or dusk during it.
- A Mechanical Critter looks like a neutral critter to the enemy.
- Tiny building items are built the same way a worker builds.
- Healing Wards show their aura's circle while you place them (the Witch Doctor's too).
- Point-aimed items make the hero walk into range before using them.
- Gold Coins show "+250" over the hero who picks them up.
- Book of the Dead's archers appear with their own summoning effect.
- Mask of Death flashes on the hero who carries it when it heals.
- Inferno knocks down the trees it lands on, and its meteor plays to the end.
- Frost slows tint their target blue and can no longer be dispelled.
- Warsong Battle Drums show 7.5%, keep their art, and are upgraded by War Drums.
- Creeps with several autocast abilities use all of them, and no longer waste Abolish Magic on auras.
- Dropping an item stops the unit and turns it toward the spot.
- The Attack command can target the active unit of your own selection; the rest of the group attacks it.
- Dialog buttons in maps respond to their hotkeys.
Fixes
- Vampiric Aura and life steal no longer heal when hitting buildings.
- Stopped flying units spread out by their selection circles instead of overlapping.
- Hero portraits sit lower in the console frame.
- The start screen can download the game files from a link. The download starts when you press the button, and can be cancelled.
- The start screen now shows on computers without WebGL2.

Gameplay
- New single-player dev tools: Spawn Item, God Mode (
whosyourdaddy) and Set Day / Set Night (riseandshine/lightsout). Typetoolsofthetradein chat to show or hide the panel. These, andiseedeadpeople, are disabled in LAN and online games.
Fixes
- Creep camps now keep fighting the unit they're on when another unit walks back into the camp.
- Melee units no longer drop their target when their bodies overlap.
- Units stop chasing a target that teleports somewhere they can't see, such as a hero leaving by Town Portal.
- Right-clicking an item with several heroes selected now sends only the active hero to pick it up.
0.3.34
Fixes
- The Tavern's heroes now show their countdown from the very start of the game, even while they are greyed out because your Altar isn't built yet.
- The Firelord's Summon Lava Spawn no longer asks you to pick a spot. It summons the Lava Spawn beside the Firelord the moment you press it, the same way Summon Water Elemental works.
- Heroes hired from the Tavern can now be revived at your Altar, not only at the Tavern.
0.3.33
Gameplay
- Computer+ on Normal is easier, so the step up from Easy is less steep for new players:
- It starts creeping at 4:00 instead of 2:30, so its hero is a level or two lower when it first attacks.
- Its army is smaller (20 food instead of 26), and its waves are smaller (12 food instead of 14).
- Its first attack comes between 6 and 8 minutes, a different time for each computer, instead of at exactly 5:00. It also waits 2 minutes between waves instead of 1.5.
- Its heroes carry fewer items: 2 shopping slots instead of 4, and it keeps more gold back for its build. It still buys and replaces a Scroll of Town Portal and healing items.
- It builds 1 tower and 1 siege unit instead of 2 of each, and it takes 10 seconds instead of 6 to react to an attack on its base.
0.3.32
Fixes
- Force of Nature can no longer be cast on a spot with no trees in its area. The click is refused with "Must target a tree." and the targeting cursor stays up, instead of spending mana and the cooldown to raise nothing. If the trees are cut down while the Keeper is walking in to cast, the cast is cancelled without cost.
0.3.31
Gameplay
- Entangling Roots now disarms as well as immobilizes: a rooted unit cannot attack at all (it can still cast spells). It keeps its orders and goes back to its target as soon as the roots let go. Ensnare and Web still let the netted unit attack whatever is in reach.
- Creeps no longer treat a unit in Entangling Roots as a threat while it is held.
0.3.30
Gameplay
- A unit pinned by Ensnare, Web or Entangling Roots now fights whatever enemy it can reach from where it is held, instead of standing idle while its target is out of reach. Once the net is gone (or its own target comes into reach) it goes back to its original target.
- Destroying or removing a Tree of Life (any tier) now releases its Entangled Gold Mine, exactly as uprooting it already did: the Wisps walk out and the rock becomes a plain gold mine again.
- An Entangled Gold Mine destroyed by damage now plays its proper death effect.
Fixes
- Holding down Tab with a group selected no longer moves keyboard focus across the HUD's buttons; it cycles the selected sub-group as it should.
0.3.29
Gameplay & HUD
- The match clock now shows under the day/night indicator for players too, in every game except campaign chapters.
- Units that picked a fight on their own (and creeps) stop chasing a target they can no longer see — a hero that blinks or portals away is no longer followed across the map.
- An enemy Haunted Gold Mine's rune circles are no longer visible through the fog of war.
Computer+
- Normal fields a slightly smaller army (army ceiling 30 → 26 food).
- Easy: after losing a fight it waits for its whole army before attacking again, and fields two more units.
- A worker that stops short of its build site is sent again (and the build is refunded if it still cannot reach it), so a computer no longer stalls with a paid building that never goes up.
Fixes
- Right-clicking Searing Arrows to autocast it now shows the autocast sparkle on its button, and the icon no longer flips to the "off" art.
- Acolytes (and other workers) no longer flicker in and out of their repair animation when a computer player has no money to pay for the repair.
0.3.28
Computer+
- Notices when a teammate leaves a team game: in a 2v2 it concedes as soon as its partner goes, and in larger teams each departed teammate weighs on whether it gives up.
- Allies attack together: a named target steers the next wave, it joins a teammate's announced attack, and an announcer waits short of the target for the ally that said "im coming with you".
- A badly hurt hero out on the map may walk the party home to heal (no Town Portal) until it is back to 80% health.
- Uses the Wand of the Wind (Cyclone) on the strongest enemy hero in range, reads its own Scroll of Healing/Restoration when nearly dead mid-fight, and sells Crystal Balls and Sentry Wards.
Fixes
- The Cloak of Flames now shows its burning effect on the carrier.
0.3.27
Computer+
- A won fight is no longer always followed by an attack on the loser's base: the computer now picks between expanding (and clearing whatever sits on the new mine), carrying on, or attacking, and attacking gets likelier after 7:30.
- When its base is under attack at tier 2, a hero with no Potion of Healing buys one, walking to a nearby shop mid-fight if it has to.
- On Normal and Insane it always builds at least one tower in its main base once tier 2 stands (the human's becomes an Arcane Tower).
