Questions about what this fork adds. For E-Hentai network, login and quota questions, see upstream's Common Questions.
Yes. This fork's Android package is com.gallery.reader (app name Gallery Reader), so it does not replace upstream. The two do not share data.
Yes. The iOS bundle id is the same as upstream's (top.jtmonster.jhentai), so installing it replaces the upstream app. The IPA is unsigned; sign it with AltStore, SideStore, Feather or Sideloadly. Add the source https://raw.githubusercontent.com/errorfg/JHenTai/refs/heads/master/altsource/AltSource.json in one of them to update from there.
With Setting → Advanced → Check update after launching app on (the default), the app asks GitHub for this fork's latest release about 3 seconds after starting. Versions are compared first, then build numbers when the versions are equal, so a release that only raises the build number is offered too. After "Dismiss" that release is not offered again. A failed check shows nothing.
No. Since 8.2.0 the minimum is iOS 15.0; older systems stay on 8.1.1.
Not directly. The database has been upgraded and the nhentai and wnacg rows moved to new number ranges, so after installing an old version those downloads no longer find their folders, and cloud sync no longer fully works between old and new versions. If you want the option of going back, back up the app's data before upgrading. See Cloud sync.
Since 8.2.0, iPhone Duo runs full screen and always in the phone layout: the navigation is on the glass bar along the right edge (beside the status bar at the top of the inner display held upright), and the menu button or a drag away from the bar pulls out the panel. On the home page the right-edge gesture and the More button no longer open quick search; the search page is unchanged. This applies to iPhone Duo only.
Not at the moment; only deb packages (x64 and arm64) are released.
That is a Flutter problem on iPadOS 26.1 and later (flutter/flutter#177992). This fork is on Flutter 3.44, which fixes it; update to the latest release.
Since 8.2.0, on S3 and WebDAV the new version and 8.1.1 or earlier do not receive each other's changes; on the sync server browsing history, Tachiyomi extension repositories and source settings no longer cross over, and old versions cannot read progress saved by the new one. Upgrade every syncing device to 8.2.0 or later. See Cloud sync.
Since 8.2.0, sync carries extension repositories and source settings only. Each device chooses its own extensions, and sync neither installs nor removes them.
Since 8.2.0, all three ways of syncing carry deletions to other devices. In 8.1.1 and earlier, S3 and WebDAV did not, so another device's copy brought deleted entries back; upgrade all the devices.
Before 8.0.37, the provider and the Enable Sync and Auto Sync on Startup switches are part of "syncSetting" and are synced to other devices. From 8.0.37 each device keeps its own; update all devices.
Failed automatic syncs only write to the log. Use Sync Now, or tap the title of any site's home page, to sync by hand and see the reason. Common reasons are in Cloud sync.
Fill in the same cloud sync settings on the new device and sync; or use Setting → Advanced → Export Data on the old device and Import Data on the new one. The exported file holds the credentials of your accounts and of sync, so keep it safe.
"The API key could not be verified." usually means the key is wrong or was revoked on nhentai.net, or nhentai.net cannot be reached: the check always goes to nhentai.net, whichever mirror is chosen.
They need an API key and only apply to galleries on nhentai.net, not to those from nhentai.to or mirrors.
With only an API key, nhentai comments are read-only and tag suggestions can only be viewed; JM comments are read-only too.
Add a mirror that works under Setting → Advanced → nhentai Domains, or choose NH-to when searching. Popular has no nhentai.to fallback.
Open Setting → Advanced → JM Lines, tap Measure lines, or set the API line and image line to a fixed line.
JM's list interface gives author and category only; showing tags would mean one details request per album, far too many, so tags are on the details page only.
The phone cannot run the upscaler programs itself. Another computer with a GPU can run the upscaling service, see Upscale while reading.
On phones and tablets, the reader's top-bar button that used to start auto page turning is now a brightness button: tap it to lock the brightness the screen has, tap again to hand it back to the system. The lock holds until you undo it.
From 8.1.0, open the reader's menu and its reader settings: the Turn pages automatically switch at the top takes you back to the page, asks for the interval and starts; switch it off in the same place. (In 8.0.37 this entry went away with the top-bar button the brightness lock replaced.) On desktop the top-bar button is still there.
From 8.1.0 it stays hidden until the device is held another way than the screen shows (for example, turned sideways while the system locks portrait) for a moment; then it shows at the bottom left for 5 seconds, and a tap turns to the device's way up. iPad does not let apps turn the screen, so there a tap turns the app's interface and the status bar stays.
