A third game type. Type C is a marathon played over a rising floor. A count of drops sits on the panel under RISE: every drop takes one off it, every line you clear puts one back, and when it reaches zero the whole stack shifts up a row while a fresh line of garbage arrives underneath. One line per drop is breaking even. It has its own screen, its own starting level and its own high-score table, and it sits behind a settings switch that is off by default.

Sixteen new colour palettes, for forty-eight in all. The new ones keep a real colour in their darkest shade instead of bottoming out at black. That shade is what the well's walls and every locked block are drawn in, so it is most of what you look at.

Leaving is easier to find. Exit game now asks where you are going — back to the title screen, or out to the desktop — and B backs out of the question.

Your saves carry forward. Settings and high scores from earlier versions are read and kept.

As before: the game asks for your Tetris ROM on first launch and reads its graphics and sound from it.
