SetupKit 0.20 — clearer setup completion
SetupKit 0.20 clarifies when the setup you chose is complete and when a specific step still needs attention.
- Shared completion guidance distinguishes a ready result, completed setup, a pause and an unresolved action.
- Optional suggestions are limited to a relevant capability that is still needed. Already configured or previously declined options are not offered again by the guidance.
- An optional public edition check can support a genuine setup entry or return. Updating is not required to receive useful help.
- Existing answers, choices and continuation records are reused; the state schema remains unchanged.
- Previous versioned reader links remain available.
Guide edition date: 21 October 2026. Start from setupkit.ai.
The candidate was checked with six bounded scenarios across ChatGPT, Codex and Claude. These observations do not guarantee identical behavior in every model, account or browser. ChatGPT's tested answers were readable in the in-app browser; an existing Chrome display problem remains unexplained.
SetupKit provides guidance. It does not itself apply settings, grant permissions or install tools.
SetupKit 0.19.2: Keep patch editions distinct
SetupKit 0.19.2 corrects an edition-comparison error in 0.19.1.
- The short edition 0.19 means 0.19.0. Patch editions such as 0.19.1 and 0.19.2 remain distinct.
- Available confirmed answers and progress can be reused; this correction does not require restarting setup.
- The guide edition date remains 20 October 2026. Versioned links, markers and integrity hashes use 0.19.2.
- The release integrity check now rejects invalid edition aliases independently of the packaging transformation.
- Existing 0.19 and 0.19.1 instruction links remain available; their published tags and files are preserved.
Targeted local checks cover instruction equivalence to the intended 0.19 rules, edition comparisons, questions, metadata, hashes, reader pages and optional updates. Earlier assistant and PageSpeed observations remain evidence for 0.19; no new model or performance campaign is claimed for 0.19.2.
SetupKit 0.19.1: Correct edition date and release metadata
This correction sets the guide's edition date to 20 October 2026 and separates guide metadata from publication status.
- Version references, instruction links and markers use 0.19.1; integrity hashes are regenerated.
- Method rules, questions and permission boundaries are unchanged from 0.19.
- Existing 0.19 instruction links remain available. Updating remains optional and reuses available confirmed answers.
release.jsoncontains the edition, revision date, integrity hashes and links to this GitHub Release and its API record. GitHub records the actual publication date; immutable guide files no longer contain preparation flags presented as current publication status.
Assistant observations and PageSpeed Insights results reported for 0.19 remain evidence for 0.19. They are not new 0.19.1 model or performance tests. This correction receives targeted checks for dates, metadata, instruction equivalence, hashes and versioned links.
Earlier published tags remain unchanged.
SetupKit 0.19: Start smaller and continue your work
SetupKit 0.19 was published on 20 October 2026. It includes the improvements prepared for 0.18.
- Start with a short prompt. Your assistant reads the additional instructions needed for the next step.
- Continue from the available conversation or a saved checkpoint, reusing confirmed answers and unfinished work.
- If your assistant cannot read a section, copy its text into the same chat. No separate recovery confirmation is needed.
- Review and sort selected files, links or notes before approving changes.
Checks for 0.19 included public-source retrieval in ChatGPT, Codex and Claude, 550 public path and resource checks, and 100 PageSpeed Insights device reports across ten URLs. Mobile median scores were 97 to 99; desktop medians were 100. These are bounded observations, not guarantees for every chat or future model. Real-user performance data was unavailable.
The guide stores an edition date of 19 October; the website publication took place on 20 October. The existing setupkit-v0.19 tag and its files are preserved.
The tag's release.json was saved during preparation and contains preparation flags. This Release entry records publication; the archived file is not a live deployment-status record.
SetupKit 0.17.1 — Welcome and continuation
What changed
- A brief first-run welcome explains what SetupKit helps with, how to continue, and how to skip or pause.
- Returning users get a short continuation based on available context, without repeating the introduction or answered questions.
- The welcome follows the user’s language. When no preference is known, a clearly temporary, changeable language keeps the start moving.
- Launch prompts, recovery text and README files stay aligned across all eight supported languages.
The existing 103-question bank, optional paths, skill recommendations and permission boundaries are preserved.
Five affected assistant scenarios were checked, including the unknown-language case. Release integrity and the security review passed for the released package.
