Releases: fabianfreund/OpenGameLauncher
Release list
v0.2.0
New
- Simutrans on macOS: fixed Retina/HiDPI pointer offset by disabling SDL high-DPI windows and launching with stable window scaling.
Changed
- Cleaner library UI: the filter row stays inside the page instead of being covered by search.
- Faster update feedback: launcher updates show as started immediately after the update action.
Verification
- 105 automated tests passed
- TypeScript and production builds passed
- Local Apple-silicon and Intel macOS ZIP/DMG builds passed signature verification
Download and installation instructions are in the README.

v0.1.9
New
- Standard of Iron: a single-player real-time strategy game about Rome and Carthage is in the catalog, added by its author.
Changed
- Filters stay on the page: the row of filters next to "All games" ran off the right edge and could not be reached. It now stays inside the window and scrolls sideways, with the trackpad or the mouse wheel.
- Search no longer covers the filters: with a filter on, or after scrolling down, the search field sat on top of the filter row. It now has its own bar above the list.
- Update button answers at once: pressing Update for a new OGL version shows "starting download" straight away, instead of nothing for a few seconds.
- Final home: OGL now reads its catalog and its updates from fabianfreund/OpenGameLauncher directly. Older versions keep working and update as before.
Good to know
- The Windows version is not signed yet, so Windows still shows a warning the first time. Choose More info → Run anyway.

v0.1.8
New
- Four browser games: A Dark Room, Antimatter Dimensions, Evolve and Industry Idle are in the catalog. They open in their own window with their own saved data, on every system, with nothing to install.
Changed
- Browser games on a white page: a game whose page sets no background colour used to show on black, which made dark text hard to read. The window now turns white once the page has loaded.
- New home: the project moved to fabianfreund/OpenGameLauncher. Older versions keep working and update as before.
Good to know
- The Windows version is not signed yet, so Windows still shows a warning the first time. Choose More info → Run anyway.

v0.1.7
New
- 0 A.D.: the real-time strategy game of ancient warfare is in the catalog, for Mac and Linux. It is a large download of about 1.7 GB.
Changed
- SuperTux 0.7.0 starts again on a Mac: the current Mac build was closed by macOS the moment it started. OGL now repairs it when it installs the game. If you already have SuperTux installed, uninstall it and install it again.
- A download that stops no longer waits forever: when the connection dies mid-download, for example because the computer went to sleep, OGL now reports it after a minute so you can start the download again.
Good to know
- 0 A.D. is not offered on Windows, because the project only publishes an installer there. The Linux version was not tried on a real machine.
- Freeciv is still not in the catalog: there is no current Mac build, and the browser version's site is not reachable safely at the moment.
- The Windows version is not signed yet, so Windows still shows a warning the first time. Choose More info → Run anyway.

v0.1.6
New
- Original files from Steam (Mac): OpenLoco and OpenRCT2 need the files of the original game, and Steam only offers those for Windows. The three-dots menu on the game page now has Get files from Steam…: sign in with your Steam account and OGL downloads the files and sets the game up to use them. You need to own the original on Steam.
- Paksets for Simutrans: the Simutrans page has a Paksets button. Pick a graphics set, such as pak64 or pak128, and install it from OGL instead of at the game's first start.
Changed
- Simutrans 125.0 starts again on a Mac: the current Mac build stops with "Failed loading SDL3 library". OGL now adds the missing part when it installs the game. If you already have Simutrans installed, uninstall it and install it again.
Good to know
- Steam sign-in: OGL runs SteamCMD, Valve's own command-line tool, and hands it your password without keeping it. If you would rather type the password into SteamCMD yourself, use Sign in via Terminal in the same window. The ? button there explains both ways.
- SteamCMD is an Intel program, so a Mac with an Apple chip needs Rosetta. OGL says how to install it if it is missing.
- The Steam download is tried and working for OpenLoco. The Steam Guard code step could not be tested for every kind of account; if it does not get through, sign in via Terminal.
- The Windows version is not signed yet, so Windows still shows a warning the first time. Choose More info → Run anyway.

v0.1.5
New
- Mod browser: OpenTTD, OpenRCT2 and Endless Sky get a mods button on their game page (NewGRFs for OpenTTD, plugins for the other two). Search, filter by category, install and uninstall without leaving OGL.
- Two more browser games: OpenFront (territorial conquest against real players) and Suroi (2D battle royale).
- Signed Mac app: the macOS version is now signed and checked by Apple. It opens without the "Open Anyway" step, and from this version on it can install its own updates.
Changed
- Clearer update errors: when an update fails, OGL says why in plain words and offers a Download button instead of showing a technical message.
Good to know
- Mac users on 0.1.4 or older: download this version once by hand and replace the app in Applications. Older Mac versions cannot update themselves; from 0.1.5 on, updates install inside OGL.
- The Windows version is not signed yet, so Windows still shows a warning the first time. Choose More info → Run anyway.

v0.1.4
The first signed Mac version. Published mainly so the in-app updater can be tried from a signed copy; 0.1.5 follows with the mod browser.
New
- Signed Mac app: the macOS version is signed and checked by Apple. It opens without the "Open Anyway" step and can install its own updates.
Changed
- Clearer update errors: when an update fails, OGL says why in plain words and offers a Download button.

v0.1.3
New
- Check for updates: the refresh button at the bottom left now also looks for a newer OGL on GitHub. It spins while it checks and then tells you the result: "Up to date" or the version it found.
- Updates in the sidebar: a new OGL version shows as a card in the sidebar, the same way a game download does, with an Update button, a progress bar and Restart. This replaces the banner at the top of the page.
Changed
- Bolder OGL wordmark: the name is set in a heavier font and is larger next to the icon in the top left and on the loading screen.
Good to know
- On macOS the update button says Download and opens the release page. Mac builds cannot install updates themselves until OGL is signed with a developer certificate.

v0.1.2
New
- Loading screen: OGL now opens on a centered logo over slowly moving colour gradients and fades into the library.
- New logo: a larger play icon with more depth and a gradient that shifts between blue, violet and cyan.
Changed
- Updates on macOS: when a new version is out, the banner button now says Open download page and takes you to the release. Mac builds cannot install updates themselves until OGL is signed with a developer certificate. Windows and Linux download and install updates in the app as before.
