Release list
MagicPhone 0.2.4
MagicPhone 0.2.4 improves reading the screen you are already using, including rendered documents and pages whose Accessibility text is incomplete.
- Partial UI trees now retain screenshot input instead of forcing the model to ask for the content.
- Keyboard and MagicPhone control areas are masked while the rest of the app stays readable.
- Changing toolbar text no longer invalidates a readable screenshot.
- Brief missing windows during fold/resize transitions are reacquired automatically, using current display geometry.
- Long text nodes retain up to 8,000 characters, with explicit partial markers when truncated.
- Password fields, secure windows, app permissions and stale tap/type protections remain enforced.
Verified: 112 core tests; 29 API 35 suite checks; a separate fold/resize check with 18 successful reads and three captures; four API 30 compatibility checks. Both live ChatGPT PDF cases complete correctly without asking for input. The integrated comparison used one model call each; the final smoke also verified automatic recovery from an initial capture failure. Builds, release audits and lint pass (0 errors / 12 warnings).
Download magicphone-0.2.4-debug.apk and install it over your current matching-signer version to preserve sign-in, settings and chats. This remains the tested early-access development build, signed with the same Android debug certificate as previous releases. Android 11+.
Full verification and limitations. Xiaomi's exact inner/outer display behavior and Acrobat on the physical phone were not tested. Checksums, signing identity and license notices accompany the APK.
MagicPhone 0.2.3
MagicPhone 0.2.3 keeps tasks moving through temporary screen-read problems and fixes false sensitive-content alerts.
Changes
- Continue automatically: temporary observation/screenshot failures become model feedback instead of ending the task. Available screen text stays usable; the model can obtain a fresh observation as needed.
- Two-second notice: “Reading the available screen content. Continuing…” disappears automatically. Its timer runs separately and adds no two-second delay to task execution. Repeated read failures do not create repeated popups or require restarting after three attempts.
- Keyboard support: read and act on unobstructed app content while the keyboard is visible. Covered nodes and keyboard pixels are excluded.
- Fewer false sensitive alerts: exact password-type detection replaces the overly broad bit check. Ordinary web-edit/email fields and large screens stay readable; incomplete trees supply partial content. Actual credential/password fields remain manual.
- Clearer errors: password fields, device lock, protected system screens and secure capture now have separate English/Greek messages.
Install
Download magicphone-0.2.3-debug.apk for Android 11+. Install over the previous matching-signer version to retain chats, settings and sign-in. This is the tested early-access APK using the existing debug certificate. Checksums, signing identity and license notices are attached.
Verification
- 110 core tests and all 22 Android 15/API 35 emulator checks pass.
- Verified model execution during the notice, automatic dismissal, keyboard-visible read/tap, screenshot fallback, ordinary fields, large trees and real password protection.
- Existing live ChatGPT current-screen translation, voice/notification, bubble and UI checks pass. Injected recovery tests use deterministic providers; arbitrary apps/OEMs are not claimed as tested.
- Debug/unsigned release builds, release audit and English/Greek checks pass. Lint: 0 errors / 12 warnings.

MagicPhone 0.2.2
MagicPhone 0.2.2 adds a prompt over the app you are already using, spoken responses and optional completion/error bubbles.
New in this release
- Ask about the current screen: press Android’s Accessibility button, type a prompt in the floating panel and Send. Use any permitted app—for example, translate visible text, explain an image or continue a task on the open screen. Image-capable models receive a fresh screenshot through the existing Gateway checks.
- Read or hear the answer: the answer bubble has Open chat and Read aloud / Stop reading. The full conversation also has speech controls below assistant responses. Greek and English playback were checked with the installed Android engine; voice availability depends on your device.
- Result bubbles on/off: Settings → Access → Show completion and error bubbles is on by default. Disabling it leaves question bubbles enabled and does not stop a running task.
- Open-source automation disclaimer: added to onboarding, automatic-access settings, README and magicphone.org. Existing permission and protected-screen checks still apply.
Install
Download magicphone-0.2.2-debug.apk for Android 11 or newer. Install over your existing matching-signer MagicPhone to retain chats, settings and sign-in. This is the tested early-access development APK using the same debug certificate as prior releases; it is not production signed. Checksums, signing identity and license notices are attached.
Verification
- 102 core tests; 19 final Android 15/API 35 emulator checks pass.
- Live current-screen Greek translation through the account-owner-authorized ChatGPT connection, result-to-chat routing, and real English/Greek speech start/stop pass.
- Debug/unsigned release builds, release audit and English/Greek resource checks pass. Lint: 0 errors / 12 warnings.
- The earlier intermittent shortcut-test failure and final passing isolated/full runs are documented. Physical-phone/OEM coverage and the previously failing hosted API 30/35 matrix are not claimed as passing here. Speech/translation accuracy across arbitrary content is unmeasured.

MagicPhone 0.2.1
MagicPhone 0.2.1 adds a refreshed interface and complete model, thinking and speed controls for Android 11 and newer.
Download magicphone-0.2.1-debug.apk from Assets below. This is the exact APK tested on the dedicated Android 15 emulator. It uses the existing debug signing certificate, so matching-signer installations can update without losing settings, sign-in or chats. It remains an early-access development build.
Changes since 0.1.5
- The landing page now previews real app screenshots for Home, model settings and a completed task, with full-size viewing.
- Refreshed light/dark interface with a new composer, rounded chat bubbles, original icons and grouped settings.
- Removed “Plan only — no actions,” including migration of older saved settings. App access rules, explicit blocks and action approvals still apply unless automatic access is enabled.
- Dynamic model search/refresh with per-model thinking and speed capabilities from the selected connection, documented fallbacks and protection against stale account results.
- Manual model options in Settings → Models: additional presets including GPT-6.1 Sol, custom model IDs, and choices beyond the fetched catalog.
- Thinking controls: Model default, None, Minimal, Low, Medium, High, Extra high, Maximum and Ultra.
- Speed controls: Account default, Standard, Fast and Ultrafast. Preferences are saved per profile and survive catalog refreshes. A manual option is a request, not a guarantee of account availability.
- A Last model response card shows requested settings alongside the actual model, thinking and speed reported by the server. Missing or different tiers do not count as confirmed Ultrafast.
- Custom model entry clears focus and dismisses the keyboard after saving. Existing voice input, notification controls, reply bubbles and Accessibility chat entry are retained.
Live verification
GPT-6.1 Sol with Low thinking and Ultrafast requested completed a real practice-app task through an authorized ChatGPT connection: open the app, tap once, enter text and verify the result. It completed with zero approvals in 26.497 seconds across four model calls. The server reported Standard (default) processing, which the UI correctly displays. This is a functional test, not a speed benchmark or confirmation of Ultrafast access.
- 96 core tests pass; debug, instrumentation and unsigned release builds pass.
- Lint: 0 errors / 11 warnings. Release-manifest, wrapper, permission and English/Greek resource checks pass.
- All four final model-settings emulator tests pass, including persistence, migration, custom-ID editing and the authorized account-catalog fetch.
- An earlier 16-case run passed 15 cases, including the live Sol task, voice/notification controls, question bubbles and UI/shortcut checks. The remaining custom-editor test was corrected, and the final targeted four-test run passed. The full 16-case suite was not repeated after the isolated keyboard-dismiss adjustment.
- Previous hosted API 30/35 emulator failures remain disclosed in the feature matrix; this publication does not claim that hosted matrix or physical/OEM coverage is complete. Live-account tests are opt-in and skipped in hosted CI.

Install or update
Download the APK and open it on an Android 11+ phone. Install over the existing matching-signer app to retain data. New installations require manually enabling Accessibility, choosing app access and connecting a model provider. Android may require Allow restricted settings in App info for sideloaded Accessibility apps.
To try the verified model configuration, open Settings → Models, enable Manual model options, choose GPT-6.1 Sol, select Low thinking and choose a processing speed. Provider support varies; Fast/Ultrafast may consume more allowance or cost more. The response card shows what the server actually reports.

MagicPhone 0.1.5
MagicPhone 0.1.5 is the first public early-access APK for Android 11 and newer.
Download magicphone-0.1.5-debug.apk from Assets below. It is the same installable build used for the latest verified QA update. It is debug signed, not production signed. There is no separate unsigned APK to accidentally install.
Included
- Android voice input: dictate into the current draft, review it and tap Send.
- Pause, Resume and Stop in an ongoing notification, replacing the top overlay bar.
- Message bubbles when the assistant needs an answer; tap to return to the requesting chat with the draft preserved and input focused.
- Screenshots of MagicPhone are enabled.
- Improved chat/history responsiveness, Accessibility chat entry and fewer model round trips.
- Optional automatic app access and execution, with explicit blocks and the central device policy still enforced.
Install or update
- Download the APK and open it on an Android 11+ phone.
- If updating one of the recent QA builds with the matching signing certificate, install over the existing app to keep its data and sign-in.
- Read onboarding and manually enable MagicPhone in Android Accessibility settings. Enable notification controls, choose app access, and connect your model provider.
Android may require Allow restricted settings in App info for sideloaded Accessibility apps. Device and account eligibility vary. A differently signed installation cannot be updated with this APK without uninstalling; uninstalling removes its app data and local credentials.
Verification and known limits
- This exact APK previously passed 89 core tests, lint with 0 errors / 15 warnings, release-manifest/resource audits and 10 targeted Android 15 emulator tests covering bubbles, voice, notifications and chat entry. Artifact-specific evidence.
- APK Signature Scheme v2 verifies. The signing certificate matches the recent QA updates;
SIGNING.txtrecords its fingerprint. - The newer GitHub Actions run passed build/core/lint/release checks, but its full hosted emulator matrix still has two API 30 shortcut failures and five API 35 fixture/keyboard/voice failures. These remain unresolved. Live-account tests are intentionally skipped in hosted CI.
- This is an early-access development build. Physical-device/OEM coverage and production-release acceptance remain incomplete. Acoustic speech accuracy depends on the installed Android speech provider.
- The APK predates the repository's documentation, license-header and CI-harness updates. Its build host's app/core runtime sources were compared with the published sources and match apart from SPDX license headers. No runtime behavior or signing identity was changed for publication.
