MagicPhone 0.2.1
MagicPhone 0.2.1 adds a refreshed interface and complete model, thinking and speed controls for Android 11 and newer.
Download magicphone-0.2.1-debug.apk from Assets below. This is the exact APK tested on the dedicated Android 15 emulator. It uses the existing debug signing certificate, so matching-signer installations can update without losing settings, sign-in or chats. It remains an early-access development build.
Changes since 0.1.5
- The landing page now previews real app screenshots for Home, model settings and a completed task, with full-size viewing.
- Refreshed light/dark interface with a new composer, rounded chat bubbles, original icons and grouped settings.
- Removed “Plan only — no actions,” including migration of older saved settings. App access rules, explicit blocks and action approvals still apply unless automatic access is enabled.
- Dynamic model search/refresh with per-model thinking and speed capabilities from the selected connection, documented fallbacks and protection against stale account results.
- Manual model options in Settings → Models: additional presets including GPT-6.1 Sol, custom model IDs, and choices beyond the fetched catalog.
- Thinking controls: Model default, None, Minimal, Low, Medium, High, Extra high, Maximum and Ultra.
- Speed controls: Account default, Standard, Fast and Ultrafast. Preferences are saved per profile and survive catalog refreshes. A manual option is a request, not a guarantee of account availability.
- A Last model response card shows requested settings alongside the actual model, thinking and speed reported by the server. Missing or different tiers do not count as confirmed Ultrafast.
- Custom model entry clears focus and dismisses the keyboard after saving. Existing voice input, notification controls, reply bubbles and Accessibility chat entry are retained.
Live verification
GPT-6.1 Sol with Low thinking and Ultrafast requested completed a real practice-app task through an authorized ChatGPT connection: open the app, tap once, enter text and verify the result. It completed with zero approvals in 26.497 seconds across four model calls. The server reported Standard (default) processing, which the UI correctly displays. This is a functional test, not a speed benchmark or confirmation of Ultrafast access.
- 96 core tests pass; debug, instrumentation and unsigned release builds pass.
- Lint: 0 errors / 11 warnings. Release-manifest, wrapper, permission and English/Greek resource checks pass.
- All four final model-settings emulator tests pass, including persistence, migration, custom-ID editing and the authorized account-catalog fetch.
- An earlier 16-case run passed 15 cases, including the live Sol task, voice/notification controls, question bubbles and UI/shortcut checks. The remaining custom-editor test was corrected, and the final targeted four-test run passed. The full 16-case suite was not repeated after the isolated keyboard-dismiss adjustment.
- Previous hosted API 30/35 emulator failures remain disclosed in the feature matrix; this publication does not claim that hosted matrix or physical/OEM coverage is complete. Live-account tests are opt-in and skipped in hosted CI.

Install or update
Download the APK and open it on an Android 11+ phone. Install over the existing matching-signer app to retain data. New installations require manually enabling Accessibility, choosing app access and connecting a model provider. Android may require Allow restricted settings in App info for sideloaded Accessibility apps.
To try the verified model configuration, open Settings → Models, enable Manual model options, choose GPT-6.1 Sol, select Low thinking and choose a processing speed. Provider support varies; Fast/Ultrafast may consume more allowance or cost more. The response card shows what the server actually reports.
