v1.0.0: Pikachu and Eevee

Choose a tag to compare

@feelingdev feelingdev released this 03 Nov 13:00

The Better Let's Go v1.0.0, now for both Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! (version 1.0.2 of either, with Atmosphère).

Tested by the owner on one Switch in both games. Not every feature has been checked and nobody has done a full playthrough yet, so back up your saves. See the README's testing status.

Download the zip for your game:

  • The-Better-Lets-Go-v1.0.0-Pikachu.zip: build ID C208DB6A4EF4361F28B8402BE0F7CD9A
  • The-Better-Lets-Go-v1.0.0-Eevee.zip: build ID 5831EC64D6B696FD69E69505821B97B1

Install: remove any other wild battle mods, unzip to the root of your SD card, then fully close and restart the game. Both zips use /atmosphere/exefs_patches/the_better_lets_go/, and each file is named after its game's build ID, so you can install both on the same SD card. Installing replaces an earlier version.

New in this version:

  • Let's Go, Eevee! support. Every feature, with Eevee as your partner.
  • Caught marker. In a wild battle, a Poké Ball appears left of the wild Pokémon's name box if you've already caught that species, as in the other Pokémon games.
  • The wild Pokémon faints when you win, with its "fainted" message and animation, instead of jumping straight to EXP.
  • "Exp. Share" option. On by default. Off gives EXP only to Pokémon that fought, including when you catch with a ball from the Bag or catch Snorlax or a Legendary after fighting it, and the catch screen then names each Pokémon that got EXP.

Everything else: wild battles with EXP and evolution, catching with a ball from the Bag, no battle timer, the "Enable Wild Battle" and "Level-Up Trade Evolution" options, options in every game language, Sky Dash on D-pad Up, and the intro skip on +, −, A, B, X or Y.

Tested: the options and saving them, catching from the Bag, Level-Up Trade Evolution, the intro skip, the timer, EXP on a win, evolution, early saves, Enable Wild Battle Off, losing, running, trainer battles, long sessions, the faint on a win, and the caught marker in both games. In Eevee: wild battles, the partner Eevee, and male and female partners.

Not tested yet, reports welcome: Sky Dash on D-pad Up, Snorlax and the Legendaries, other game languages (the translations are by AI and unchecked by native speakers), Exp. Share's per-Pokémon messages, the remaining features one by one in Eevee, shiny and Special Encounters, and a full playthrough.

Stay offline and out of GO Park.

v0.5.1 (early pre-release)

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@feelingdev feelingdev released this 02 Nov 08:53

Early pre-release: no Switch test results for this build yet, and there's been no full playthrough. Back up your saves.

For Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! 1.0.2 with Atmosphère. Build ID C208DB6A4EF4361F28B8402BE0F7CD9A.

Install: remove any other wild battle mods, unzip to the root of your SD card, then fully close and restart the game. The zip adds /atmosphere/exefs_patches/the_better_lets_go/, replacing an earlier version if you have it.

Fixed in this version:

  • Sky Dash on D-pad Up: in v0.5.0, Up opened the town map but pressing A on a place did nothing. Up now opens the map the way the game's own menu does, so you can pick a place and fly there. B takes you back to the overworld. The screen now fades out before the map appears.

Also included since v0.1.0, and also still being tested:

  • Every game language: both options are translated into Japanese (kana and kanji), English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Korean, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and they now appear in Japanese too. The translations are by AI and aren't checked by native speakers, so corrections to tools/option_text.py are very welcome.
  • Sky Dash on D-pad Up: works once you've unlocked Sky Dash, under the same rules as opening the menu. On a single sideways Joy-Con, Up still opens the menu.
  • Snorlax, Legendaries and other scripted wild fights keep the original mechanic: no Poké Balls in the battle Bag, the original timer stays, and you catch them after you win.
  • "Level-Up Trade Evolution" option: Off by default. When On, Kadabra, Machoke, Graveler and Haunter can also evolve by leveling up, starting at Level 50.
  • Intro skip: works with +, −, A, B, X or Y.
  • Patch format: IPS32. If the patch seems to do nothing, please report your Atmosphère version.

Please test:

  • D-pad Up: nothing before unlocking Sky Dash; after that, pick a place with A and fly there, or press B to return to the overworld rather than the menu. Check that the screen, sound and Pikachu look normal afterwards. Report any freeze.
  • The Town Map in the X menu, which should still fly as before, and X still opening the menu.
  • Snorlax or a Legendary, then a normal wild battle and a trainer battle straight after.
  • Opening Options and scrolling every row: 13 in Japanese, 12 in other languages.
  • Each language's wording, and any text that's cut off or shows as blank boxes.
  • Switching both options, then restarting the game to check they saved.
  • Each trade evolution at Level 50, canceling with B, and with the option Off.
  • Whether one A press on the intro also starts the game.

Known gaps: shiny and Special Encounters are untested, and there's been no full playthrough. Stay offline.

See the README for the AI disclosure, warnings, testing status and credits.

@feelingdev feelingdev released this 02 Nov 05:57

New in this version:

  • Snorlax, Legendaries and other scripted wild fights keep the original mechanic: there are no Poké Balls in the battle Bag, the original timer stays, and you catch them after you win. This applies whether "Enable Wild Battle" is On or Off. Normal wild battles are unchanged.

Also included since v0.1.0, and also still being tested:

  • Every game language: both options are translated into Japanese (kana and kanji), English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Korean, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. They now appear in Japanese too, and the Hiragana/Kanji row works as normal. The translations are by AI and aren't checked by native speakers, so corrections to tools/option_text.py are very welcome.

Please test:

  • Snorlax or a Legendary: no balls in the Bag, the timer shows, and winning leads to the catch screen.
  • A normal wild battle straight after one: balls are back, there's no timer, and a win gives EXP with no catch screen.
  • A trainer battle straight after one.
  • Opening Options and scrolling every row: 13 in Japanese, 12 in other languages.
  • Each language's wording, and any text that's cut off or shows as blank boxes.
  • Switching both options, then restarting the game to check they saved.

v0.3.0 (early pre-release)

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@feelingdev feelingdev released this 02 Nov 05:45

Early pre-release: Switch testing of this build has only just started, with no results yet, and there's been no full playthrough.

New in this version:

  • Every game language: "Enable Wild Battle" and "Level-Up Trade Evolution" are translated into Japanese (kana and kanji), English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Korean, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. The patch follows the language the game is using.
  • Japanese support: both options now appear in Japanese, and the Hiragana/Kanji row works as normal again. "Enable Wild Battle" has its own row in every language, and your saved choices carry over.
  • Patch format: the patch is now IPS32, to make room for the text. If the patch seems to do nothing, please report your Atmosphère version.

Translations: written by AI, using the game's own terms and Pokémon names, and not checked by native speakers. Corrections are very welcome, and they all live in tools/option_text.py.

Also included since v0.1.0, and also still being tested: the "Level-Up Trade Evolution" option (Level 50, Off by default) and the intro skip on +, −, A, B, X or Y.

Please test:

  • Opening Options and scrolling every row: 13 in Japanese, 12 in other languages. A crash here is the most likely problem.
  • Each language's wording, and any text that's cut off or shows as blank boxes.
  • In Japanese, switching between kana and kanji.
  • Switching both options, then restarting the game to check they saved.
  • Each trade evolution at Level 50, canceling with B, and with the option Off.
  • Whether one A press on the intro also starts the game.
  • A wild battle win and a ball catch, since the earlier test results are from older builds.

Known gaps: shiny and Special Encounters are untested, and there's been no full playthrough. Stay offline.

See the README for the AI disclosure, warnings, testing status and credits.
