Zane is an AI-powered legal document analyst built for individuals, freelancers, and small business owners who want to understand contracts without hiring a lawyer. Paste a document or upload a PDF/DOCX, and Zane breaks it down in plain English — flagging risks, explaining clauses, rewriting unfair terms, and extracting key dates.

• Plain-English analysis — Zane reads your document and explains it like a smart friend who knows the law
• Risk flagging — RED / AMBER / GREEN colour-coded risk cards for every clause worth knowing about
• Clause explanations — click any risk card to get a 4-sentence breakdown and a real-world example
• Document health score — animated gauge scoring fairness, clarity, completeness, and risk protection
• Legal glossary tooltips — hover over legal terms (indemnification, force majeure, etc.) to see plain-English definitions inline
• Upload PDF or DOCX — drag-and-drop or click to upload; supports up to 20 MB
• Paste raw text — works without a file; just paste the contract text and go
• Multi-turn chat — ask follow-up questions about any part of the document
• Chat history — recent conversations saved locally and restored between sessions
• Document history — previous analyses saved with risk summary, re-loadable in one click

Getting Started

Prerequisites

• Python 3.10+
• A Groq API key (free tier available)
• Optional: An Anthropic API key for Pro/Claude features

Installation

Language support: the selected language is sent with every request. The system prompt instructs the model to respond entirely in the chosen language, preserving RED / AMBER / GREEN tokens for UI parsing.
