This is an experimental component-authoring snapshot of commit f88cced, from draft PR #85. It is intended for trying the proposed API and sharing feedback. Names and behavior may change.

The preview lets ordinary Python components carry their appearance, expose deliberate customization points, and reuse column-based tables. Its invoice and five-page report import the same application design kit. The kit also includes a small standalone program that produces summary.pdf before introducing themes or named parts.

Try it without building Rust

Download project.zip from this release, extract it, and open a terminal in fullbleed-component-preview. You need CPython 3.10+ and internet access. Create an isolated environment:

python -m venv .venv

Activate with .venv\Scripts\Activate.ps1 on Windows PowerShell, or source .venv/bin/activate on macOS/Linux, then run:

python -m pip install --force-reinstall -r requirements-preview.txt
python first_pdf.py
python examples/component_recipes/main.py --output output
python edit_tasks.py --output output/edits

The installer selects a compatible prebuilt wheel from this release for supported Windows, macOS and Linux platforms. It uses exact file URLs and SHA-256 hashes and does not consult PyPI. requirements-source.txt remains available for an explicit source build with Rust/Cargo and native build tools.

These assets retain package metadata version 2.5.26, but differ from PyPI's 2.5.26. The published PyPI wheel does not contain fullbleed.ui.experimental. The source commit and hashes identify this snapshot; --force-reinstall replaces an existing same-version package inside the isolated environment. This prerelease does not replace the stable GitHub or PyPI release.

Evidence and limits

The build-only Release workflow passed its source validation and native/platform installation checks for all 15 wheels. PyPI publication was disabled and skipped. The core CI run passed. preview-wheels.json records the source commit, build run, distribution hashes and checks of all 14 experimental source/type files in every distribution; preview-SHA256SUMS.txt covers the attached distributions and starter files.

The Windows x64 release wheel also passed the exact starter's nine document/entry-point checks and six guide blocks; its invoice/report PDFs retain the previously verified bytes. The broader CSS corpus run completed with 1,619 PASS, 25 FAIL and 18 REFERENCE-DISPUTED cases. All 1,662 verdicts and aggregate pixel scores match the preceding ecc52c6 prototype; the comparator job remains failed. These checks establish bounded behavior, not independent usability, browser parity or standards conformance.

Oversized rowspans, page-tall cell images and non-top-aligned oversized table cells remain unsupported. Token/part-name completion, broader diagnostics and a stable migration decision remain open. SVG stylesheet consistency is tracked in issue #87.

Read the design decision brief and runnable API guide. Try reusing a field, changing the brand, adding a column, switching paper size or repairing a layout constraint, then share a synthetic example in the design discussion.
