Fullbleed 2.5.7: smaller embedded TrueType fonts
Fullbleed 2.5.7 reduces unused metadata in embedded TrueType fonts. Existing rendering code gets the change on upgrade; there is no new option or runtime dependency.
The retained invoice fixture shrank from 52,553 to 12,032 bytes. Nine fixtures kept the same extracted text, page counts, PDFium pixels, and native previews against an installed 2.5.6 baseline. Savings depend on the fonts and content; this is not a rendering-speed measurement or a general size ranking.
python -m pip install --upgrade "fullbleed==2.5.7"Rust users can update the fullbleed crate to 2.5.7. Node.js and .NET bindings are independently versioned; this release does not update their pinned engines.
The subsetter preserves retained glyph IDs, outlines, instructions, composite components, advances, and font notices. It compacts common character maps, removes the PostScript glyph-name payload, clears unused metrics, and recalculates horizontal-header extrema. Unsupported character-map formats keep their source bytes.
Upgrade note: PDF bytes and hashes change. Review stored document baselines when upgrading.
Validation includes the full Rust and Python suites, Windows/Linux CI, Python 3.10–3.14 compatibility, independent font and PDF readers, reviewed golden documents, platform wheel smoke checks, and the external profile gate. The optional dedicated PDF/VT validator is unconfigured; its skipped job does not establish dedicated PDF/VT conformance.
See the release runbook and the merged change and CI. Attached distributions and evidence retain their checksums and verification reports.
