Fullbleed 2.6.0a9 — component page bands
Pre-releaseThis opt-in Python preview adds PageBand and PageNumbers: author reusable headers and footers with components, style their parts, and render page numbers with per-record totals. The component implementation is now merged into the repository's default branch, master.
python -m pip install --pre "fullbleed==2.6.0a9"Ordinary pip install fullbleed continues to select stable 2.5.34. fullbleed.ui.experimental remains experimental. This release does not publish a new Rust crate or change the Node/C# packages.
Download the component showcase source ZIP. It includes the Northstar invoice and Common Ground report in both Python components and HTML/CSS, the authored accessible guide, and a new three-page Common Ground field-notes document demonstrating repeated bands, a table, and page counters. The extracted kit reproduces 11 saved PDFs; its dependency-free check uses only Fullbleed. SOURCE.json records the standalone packaging adjustments.
Components own their styles, expose named parts, preserve literal class_name selectors, and export HTML with or without styles. Static Bootstrap exports include no JavaScript. PDF bands repeat outside body reading order; HTML export emits one semantic header/main/footer sequence and explicit page-counter placeholders. Browser export does not promise browser-print pagination parity.
Examples: Northstar invoice, Common Ground report, accessible guide / PDF/UA-1, accessible guide / PDF/UA-2, and field notes / PDF/UA-2. The invoice's two authoring paths produce identical PDF bytes; the report's paths produce identical page pixels. Both guide profiles reproduce identical bytes through components and exported HTML/CSS and pass independent veraPDF validation.
Managed page bands check measured layout and conservative paint bounds before clipping. A fit failure exposes page, slot, source, and measurements through PageBandError. Compiled record reflow restarts page numbering and totals for each record. API and limitations.
Verification retains 1,480 native tests, 11 documentation tests, 216 focused Python tests, and 970 full Python tests. Windows/Linux CI, the exact-tag release, and a fresh public Windows installation reproduce 844 saved PDF files, including control outputs, and 33 expected rejection payloads. The complete file check includes 280 untagged/reference controls beyond the earlier 564-file tally. Independent PDF/UA evidence comprises 306 inherited legacy results tied to unchanged PDF and report hashes, 20 fresh legacy-matrix validations, 20 fresh managed-paint runs, 32 fresh PageBand/field-notes runs, and both accessible-guide profiles. All 15 wheels and the source archive were anonymously downloaded and matched to the release artifacts.
The independent CSS comparator ran against this exact candidate and remains failing: 1,619 PASS, 25 FAIL, and 18 REFERENCE-DISPUTED. All 5,489 saved outputs, scores, and raw verdicts match the retained baseline. Complete corpus, validation evidence, publication evidence, verification manifest, and SHA-256 checksums are attached. The initial local README metadata failure and corrected final build are retained in the evidence.
Paint bounds are conservative and can reject tightly fitted content. Unknown paint operations fail explicitly. Native file/writer rendering remains streaming; applications requiring atomic replacement should stage output. Named or facing-page band variants are not implemented. Dedicated PDF/VT validation and human assistive-technology testing remain unverified; fixture checks do not establish arbitrary-document accessibility or general CSS conformance.
The 189 independent PDFium/Pillow preview images have identical PNG metadata, decompressed scanlines, and decoded pixels. Their PNG compression streams differ between the release runner and local qualification. The initial comparison failure and full encoding diagnosis are retained in the publication evidence; PDF-byte and pixel comparisons have no tolerance changes.
