Release list
LZ4 Game Compressor beta.7
LZ4 Game Compressor beta.7
Private reports now include ShadowMount’s debug log when available, alongside the compressor diagnostics and app tab images. This helps investigate game-launch and mount failures.
The app reads /data/shadowmount/debug.log only; it does not enable logging or change ShadowMount settings. The report review includes its contents, availability, original size and whether it was truncated. Large logs include the last 1 MiB. Reports can include game names, paths and crash details and require your consent before sending privately.
Update through Updates → Check for updates → Install and restart. After reproducing a problem, use Report issue to submit a fresh report.
This beta converts only mountable PS5 game images and extracted folder dumps. Keep backups; verification does not guarantee launch compatibility.
LZ4 Game Compressor beta.6
LZ4 Game Compressor beta.6
Fixes private diagnostic reports incorrectly rejecting a successful console response as “HTTP 200”. Reports now include firmware, saved job state, setup and available console logs alongside the existing tab images, games, storage and settings.
Missing send requirements are highlighted in the report form. Successful submission closes the form and shows a clear Report sent confirmation with its report ID.
Update through Updates → Check for updates → Install and restart, then submit a new report. Previously submitted reports cannot recover the missing console data.
This beta converts only mountable PS5 game images and extracted game folder dumps. Keep backups; verification does not guarantee launch compatibility. Reports require consent and remain private. Large logs include their last 1 MiB and are marked if truncated.
The app checks for updates shortly after opening and every 10 minutes while idle. The Updates button pulses when a newer release is available. Download percentage, downloaded size, restart and successful installation are shown clearly. Updates still require you to choose Install and restart.
LZ4 Game Compressor beta.5
LZ4 Game Compressor beta.5
Report review now opens inside the app, so PS5 users can read diagnostics without downloading a file. A separate download button remains available for browsers that support it.
If Send private report is disabled, the app explains what is needed: a title of at least 5 characters, a description of at least 10 characters, consent, and collected diagnostics. Controller checkbox events now refresh the button state. Image capture has a timeout so it cannot leave collection waiting indefinitely.
Update through Updates → Check for updates → Install and restart. Finish any conversion first. The ELF remains named LZ4-Game-Compressor.elf.
This beta converts only mountable PS5 game images and extracted game folder dumps. Keep backups; verification does not guarantee launch compatibility. Reports stay private and require consent; logs and screenshots may include game names and paths. Large logs include their last 1 MiB and are marked if truncated.
LZ4 Game Compressor beta.4
LZ4 Game Compressor beta.4
Report a problem directly from the app with a title and description. Reports include Setup and Progress images, detected games and storage devices, dropdown choices, selected settings and diagnostic logs. Images capture only the app interface.
You can preview the images and save the full report before sending. Submission requires your consent and goes to a private GitHub repository through the report service; no GitHub login is needed. Large logs include their last 1 MiB and are marked when truncated. Reports can contain game names and file paths.
To update, open Updates, choose Check for updates, then Install and restart. Finish any conversion first. The download remains named LZ4-Game-Compressor.elf.
This beta supports only mountable PS5 game images and extracted game folder dumps. Keep backups: verification does not guarantee a game will launch. PS5 browser image capture still needs broader firmware testing. A failed submission can be saved for a later retry.
LZ4 Game Compressor beta.3
LZ4 Game Compressor beta.3
This release fixes the missing Media shortcut by using the newer PS5 app registration method. Registration was verified on firmware 12.20, and a user confirmed that the shortcut works after a clean installation. Other firmware versions still need confirmation.
Download LZ4-Game-Compressor.elf and load it with Payload Manager after stopping any active conversion. This single payload starts the compressor and installs or refreshes its Media shortcut. Reload an open browser to see the updated interface. The shortcut opens the local interface; the payload must be running.
Also included:
- Updates in the app: check GitHub releases and download, install, and restart a newer version. Downloads use HTTPS and SHA-256 verification. The complete download, verification, installation, and restart sequence was tested on a PS5.
- Completed conversions stop the elapsed timer and show a completion message with the total duration.
- The ELF filename stays the same across releases, and the Media shortcut is named LZ4 Game Compressor.
- Updated beta.3 download: fixes GitHub download header limits, certificate-chain compatibility, and the restart-helper location. If the previous in-app updater fails, load this ELF manually once. Existing beta.3 installations will not detect another beta.3 build as a newer version.
Supported sources are mountable PS5 game images and extracted game folder dumps. Images must be mountable by ShadowMountPlus; dumps need eboot.bin, sce_sys/param.json, and the game files. Level 7 and verification remain the defaults.
This fix addresses shortcut registration. It does not claim to fix the separate folder-loading or connection-loss reports. This is beta software: keep your original game when trying a conversion for the first time. Content verification does not guarantee that every game will launch correctly.
Dependencies and credits are documented in the repository's CREDITS.md and THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md. No game content or proprietary Sony SDK is included.
LZ4 Game Compressor beta.2
LZ4 Game Compressor beta.2
Compress supported PS5 games directly on your console into AMPR LZ4 asset packs. Level 7 and content verification remain the defaults.
Supported sources: this app can only convert mountable PS5 game images and extracted PS5 game folder dumps. Images must be mountable by ShadowMountPlus. Folder dumps need the game's eboot.bin, sce_sys/param.json, and game files. Already converted AMPR folders are excluded from the source library.
What's new and fixed
- One ELF to load:
LZ4-Game-Compressor-beta.2.elfstarts the compressor and installs or refreshes its Media shortcut and logo. - Folder dump support: library entries show Image or Folder Dump. Dumps load automatically through a read-only view and display Folder Dump Loaded.
- Better game discovery: USB and M.2 game folders are discovered, including dumps containing a source
ampr_emu.index. Converted AMPR output is kept out of the source list. - M.2 destinations: use a PS5-recognized expansion SSD and choose custom destination folders, including
/mnt/ext1/homebrew. Selecting a custom folder keeps the destination drive selection consistent. - Shared browser settings: game selection, mount state, destination folders, compression level, verification, and original-game options synchronize when using the same PS5 address on multiple devices.
- Complete remote progress: opening the app during a conversion shows its current stage, game and file, speeds, elapsed time, estimated remaining time, and progress. Idle browsers continue checking for a conversion started elsewhere.
- Clearer speeds and cancellation: transfer rates use storage units per second, and partial-output cleanup reports whether deletion succeeded.
Before converting
Keep both copies and leave verification enabled when trying a game for the first time. Folder dumps currently support Keep both; original-image move, delete, and swap options remain available for image sources. Verification checks content integrity and does not guarantee that a game will launch or play correctly. Deleting an original is permanent, and interrupted transfers may leave folders that need review.
Load the new ELF with Payload Manager after stopping any active conversion. The Media shortcut opens the interface; the payload must be running. If a browser still shows the old interface, reload it.
