What's new

Adding games is much faster

Until now, every time PS4Mount added games, the console went through every PS4 game already in your library, one by one, about 0.7 seconds each, even the ones that were already there. With 36 games in the library, registering a group of new games took about 30 seconds, whether the group had 1 game or 5, and every game you added made the next additions slower.

Now the console only sees the games being added. The rest of your library is left out of the check, and it stays installed and playable.

Measured on the same PS5 (13.20) and the same library of about 36 PS4 games:

0.5.1 0.6.0
Registering a group of 5 new games 29 s 14 s
Registering a group of 1 or 2 new games 28 s 9 to 11 s
Adding 6 or 7 new games in 2 groups, start to "ready to play" 101 s (6 games) 69 s (7 games)
Adding 11 new games in groups of 10 48 s

The bigger your library, the bigger the gain, because the old check grew with every game you had. In practice:

  • New games show up in the library sooner after you plug in the drive or press Rescan.
  • Each group now costs about 9 seconds plus about 1 second per new game, instead of a full pass over the library.

If a game is open while games are being added, PS4Mount uses the previous method, so the open game is never disturbed.

Stopping and updating PS4Mount works again

In 0.5.1, Stop in the panel left PS4Mount half running: the panel no longer answered, and a newly loaded PS4Mount refused to start because it saw the old one still there. Updating to a new version only worked after a restart of the console.

Now Stop really ends it, and loading a new version right after works.

Coming from 0.5.1: that version still has the problem when it is stopped. Restart the console once, then load 0.6.0 (or put 0.6.0 in the payload manager / autoload and restart).

Number fields in Settings

The Games per group fields accepted letters and symbols. They now take digits only, and on the PS5 they open the numeric keyboard instead of the full one.
