Customization

Extra Science is highly customizable. Besides the fact that you are free to edit the scripts however you'd like, I've exposed a number of key variables so that the user can tweak important aspects of the scripts with ease. All of these options are listed in the [EXTRA SCIENCE] Configuration Script.

  1. Find [EXTRA SCIENCE] Configuration Script in the list under the "Speech Responder" tab and click the "Edit" button on the far right

  2. At the very top of the script, under "CUSTOMIZATION", you'll see a number of tweakable "states." The possible values and results are listed below.

  3. After changing any of these options, you must reload Elite: Dangerous from the main menu for the changes to take effect

ED Copilot Integration

{SetState('edcopilot', 1)}

Change 1 to 0 if you're not using ED Copilot's text-to-speech system for readouts. This option was added as a workaround for certain issues that only present themselves when using ED Copilot's text-to-speech system.

Immersion Mode

{SetState('immersion', 2)}

Change 2 to 0 if you only want to hear extended info for landable bodies with atmospheres. Change it to 1 if you want to hear extended info for all bodies with atmospheres (including gas giants). Leave it on 2 if want to hear extended info for every body. Default is 2. Values above 2 will have no effect, and if you set it below 0...you'll break the script. So don't do that.

Level of Detail

THESE OPTIONS ARE DEPENDENT ON THE VALUE THAT "IMMERSION MODE" IS SET TO. Think of "Immersion Mode" as the master control for what types of bodies you want to hear readouts for, and these options as fine tuning the info you hear for each type of body. For example, if you have {SetState('immersion', 0)}, you will never hear readouts for anything but landable bodies with atmospheres regardless of what the level of detail options are set to.

For the following options, a value of 0 will disable the readout entirely, a value of 1 will enable the readout for stars and landable planets with atmospheres, a value of 2 will enable the readout for stars and all planets with atmospheres (including gas giants), and a value of 3 will enable the readout for all planets and stars:

report_temp controls temperature readouts, and report_orbit controls day / night cycle and orbital period readouts.

For the following options, a value of 0 will disable the readout entirely, a value of 1 will enable the readout for landable planets with atmospheres, and a value of 2 will enable the readout for all planets with atmospheres (including gas giants):

report_atmo_comp controls atmosphere composition readouts, report_pressure controls surface pressure readouts, and report_sky_color controls sky color estimation readouts.

For the following option, a value of 0 will disable the readout entirely, and a value of 1 will enable the readout for all planets with atmospheres:

report_climate controls Koppen climate estimation readouts.

For the following option, a value of 0 will disable the readout entirely, and a value of 1 will enable the readout:

report_gas_giant_class controls readouts for descriptions of gas giant classes.

Temperature Units

{SetState('reportatmotempscale', 2)}

Change 2 to 0 if you want to use Kelvin, 1 for Celsius, or leave it at 2 for Fahrenheit. Default is 2.

Body Materials Report

{SetState('reportmatconc', 1)} and {SetState('reportmatpercent', 2)}

  1. For reportmatconc, a value of 0 will only read out excellent concentrations of minerals on the surface of scanned bodies. A value of 1 will only read out excellent and above-average concentrations. A value of 2 will read out all minerals. Default is 1.

  2. For reportmatpercent, a value of 0 will not read out any percentages for mineral concentrations on scanned bodies. A value of 1 will only read out percentages for excellent concentrations. A value of 2 will only read out percentages for excellent and above-average minerals. A value of 3 will read out all mineral percentages. Default is 2.
