The Geographer's Craft was initiated in 1992 at the Department of Geography and the Environment, University of Texas at Austin under the leadership of Dr. Kenneth E. Foote and Dr. Peter H. Dana (www.pdana.com), with major grant support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Undergraduate Education.
As one of the world's first open educational resources (OER) on the World Wide Web, it educated generations of geography and GIS students worldwide in spatial analysis, coordinate systems, GPS, map projections, error management, and cartographic design.
