The Geographer's Craft is a project based at the University of Texas at Austin aimed at developing a two-semester introductory curriculum for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial analysis based on active-learning and collaborative-learning teaching methods. Materials developed for the project are being distributed via the World Wide Web. This paper describes how the Web is being used to support course activities and to distribute course materials, and reports on the benefits, problems, and issues encountered in the course of the project.
