EUSBASPI 0.4
Changes since 0.3:
- The OpenASPI drivers come with it, each one an option, loaded after
EUSBASPI.SYS:
| Option | |
|---|---|
| Sticks, card readers, disks (on) | ASPIDSK.SYS |
| CD/DVD drives (on) | ASPICDA.SYS, SHSUCDX |
| ZIP, LS-120, LS-240, Clik!, Jaz | ASPIFDD.SYS |
| Tape drives | ASPITAP.SYS, TAPECTL.COM |
With EUSBASPI already loaded, ASPISCAN.COM finds the devices and preselects the options. No Adaptec drivers are needed any more.
- SHSUCDX with digital CD audio (geosone/shsucd 4.00-g1,
CDAUDIO.COM): SHSUCDX of the package always wins over MSCDEX (MS-DOS) and NWCDEX (DR-DOS). An existing MSCDEX/NWCDEX line starts SHSUCDX instead, keeps its CD-ROM drivers and drive letters and gets/D:ASPICDA0;INSTALL /Uputs MSCDEX or NWCDEX back. Needs the GeosOne Dual Installer 1.14.0 (included). - OpenASPI and SHSUCD have installers of their own; all share
C:\OPENASPI, each can be installed alone or together. - From 0.3: remove 0.3 first (
INSTALL /UinC:\OPENASPI\EUSBASPI): it loaded Adaptec's ASPIDISK.SYS and ASPICD.SYS, which use the same drives.
Tested in QEMU with MS-DOS 7.1 (an IDE CD with MSCDEX before; after setup a USB CD (ASPICDA) and a USB stick (ASPIDSK) on EHCI, both CDs through SHSUCDX; INSTALL /U restores CONFIG.SYS and the MSCDEX line) - not yet on real hardware, please test with care (backup!) and report. The OpenASPI drivers are version 0.1 (OpenAspi 354a558).
EUSBASPI 0.3
Changes since 0.2:
- Installs to
C:\OPENASPI, the directory shared with AHCIASPI and OpenASPI; the installer and its journals go toC:\OPENASPI\EUSBASPI(C:\OPENASPI\EUSBASPI\INSTALL /Uremoves it). Needs the GeosOne Dual Installer 1.12.0 (included). - New option: add
C:\OPENASPIto the PATH, soUSBSYNCandASPITESTrun from any directory.INSTALL /Uremoves only this part of the PATH. ASPICD.SYSandASPIDISK.SYSalready inC:\OPENASPI(e.g. from the ezscsi disk) are found and added toCONFIG.SYSafterEUSBASPI.SYS.EUSBASPI.IMG: the package as a 1.44 MB disk image, e.g. for the MS-DOS disk set of msdosinst (-Extra).- Fix: without USB drives (or without the driver) the messages named AHCIASPI and ATAPI devices; now "No USB mass storage devices found" / "EUSBASPI not installed".
Tested in QEMU - not yet on real hardware, please test with care (backup!) and report.
EUSBASPI 0.2
New: USBSYNC - before unplugging a USB drive, run USBSYNC (DOS) or USBSYNC.EXE (Windows 3.1x). It writes the DOS buffers, the WfW 3.11 32-bit file access cache, the SMARTDRV cache and the drives' own write caches (SYNCHRONIZE CACHE) and then tells you that the drives can be unplugged; /E also stops (ejects) them.
Tested in QEMU (DOS with SMARTDRV write-behind, Windows for Workgroups 3.11 with 32-bit file access), not yet on real hardware.
ASPIDISK.SYS / ASPICD.SYS are still not included: copy them next to INSTALL.EXE and the installer installs them as well.
EUSBASPI 0.1
First version: ASPI manager for USB mass storage on UHCI, OHCI, EHCI and xHCI (/X), with hubs, hot plugging (/H) and Windows 3.x support (EUSBVXD.386), with installer (run INSTALL.EXE).
Tested in QEMU and VirtualBox, not yet on real hardware. Disable "USB legacy storage" in the BIOS setup if possible.
ASPI drivers are not included: ASPIDISK.SYS and ASPICD.SYS are not free software. Copy them next to INSTALL.EXE before installing and the installer installs them as well; otherwise it uses the ones it finds on the computer. See README.TXT.
Contents: EUSBASPI.SYS, EUSBVXD.386, ASPITEST.COM, INSTALL.EXE (GeosOne DOS Installer 1.1).
