Split the FAQ It is really hard to find things without a table of contents. GitHub's wiki engine cannot auto-generate a table of contents, so let's just use the FAQ page itself as a table of contents, and fan out into individual pages for the individual questions. This trick was performed by the command-line m=Frequently-Asked-Questions.md echo > $m.new p= for l in $(grep -n '^# ' $m | sed 's/:.*//'; wc -l < $m) do test -z "$p" || sed -n "$(($p+2)),$(($l-1))p" < $m > $file title="$(sed -n "${l}p" < $m)" title="${title#\# }" file="$(echo "$title" | tr ' ' - | tr -d "?\"':/").md" test -z "$title" || echo "# [$title](${file%.md})" >> $m.new p=$l done followed by minimal manual fixing.
