Install from the release

1. Download metalens-<version>.zip from the latest release and unzip it somewhere permanent (the browser loads the extension from that folder).
2. Open the extensions page: chrome://extensions, edge://extensions or brave://extensions.
3. Turn on Developer mode.
4. Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped metalens-<version> folder.
5. Pin MetaLens to the toolbar so the badge is visible.

Optional: local files

To analyze files opened from your disk (file://…), open MetaLens → Details and enable Allow access to file URLs. Files dropped into the viewer work without this setting.

Language

MetaLens follows your browser language (Turkish or English). To change it, open the popup and pick Automatic, Türkçe or English in the header.

Updating

Download the new zip, replace the contents of the folder, then press the reload button on the MetaLens card on the extensions page.

Permissions

Permission	Why
Access to all sites	To download the file you are looking at and analyze it locally
Context menus	The right-click "Show metadata" items
Scripting, active tab	The live panel and the page scan
Web request, declarative net request	Detecting image/PDF tabs for the badge, and the Referer retry for hotlink-protected sites
