Roadmap
The Roadmap aims to set out when certain features will appear. It reduces in clarity the further we go into the future, and is constantly being added to as we move forward.
If you're just looking to find out whether a feature is likely to end up in core or not, then take a look at the planned features page. It's just a list, but we're adding more detail to it as we go.
Update: In order to deliver 0.4 this year, we have decided to cull a large body of work and focus on closing the milestone. This includes culling all work to do with the App API. We are going to aim to deliver a shorter cycle for 0.5 which focuses solely on the App API, and all of the work around i18n and multi-user that was scheduled for 0.5 will now be moved to 0.6.
Milestone 4 will result in version 0.4.0 of Ghost. This is the current milestone.
0.4.0 is currently in the process of being tested, triaged, tested, patched, and tested some more. Due to the large number of refactoring and architectural changes, this process is taking considerably longer than expected. The time we're taking right now is being used to ensure that 0.4.0 is as bug free as possible. We're not sure how much longer it's going to take, but you can see how much we have left to do by looking at the open issues:
This version focuses around the App API, import tools and adding functionality which has been heavily requested during the launch phases.
Milestone 4 is the first milestone which is not only after the public launch, but also developed in the open allowing anyone to get involved. This means that Milestone 4 has a heavy focus on architecture, further improving the Ghost internals, making it easier to work with, and adding non-user-facing features that will help Ghost to grow new features quickly in the future.
We had also planned to make our Ghost Developer Tools, or the API for building Apps, available at the end of this milestone, so that developers can start building Apps to extend Ghost's functionality. This too required a focus on the Ghost internals and so has been moved to it's own project in 0.5.
There are also a number of important enhancements and features we want to add to the publishing experience, to reduce user frustration wherever possible.
