Overland for Android 1.2.1
Trips now start on time, home stays quiet, and uploads cope better with a bad connection. This release includes the unreleased 1.2.0 changes.
- Bluetooth trigger (Settings → Bluetooth trigger): choose paired devices such as your car. While one is connected, location stays at high accuracy, so trips are recorded from the first metre instead of when motion detection catches up. It stays on for 2 minutes after the device disconnects, so the parking spot is recorded accurately. Needs the Nearby devices permission on Android 12 and newer.
- Quiet zones (Settings → Quiet zones): inside a zone you set (home, office…), points aren't sent unless you're on a trip, so walking around inside sends nothing. The last point held back is sent first when a trip starts, so it starts where you were parked.
- While the phone is still, location fixes requested by other apps (e.g. navigation) are picked up at no extra battery cost, and a fast one switches straight back to high accuracy.
- Smarter uploads: nothing is tried without a network, failed uploads are retried after 1, 2, 4, 8, then every 15 minutes, and a connection coming back retries right away. No request is made when there is nothing to send.
- The 15-second upload interval was removed; the shortest is now 30 seconds.
Upgrade: installs over 1.0.0 and 1.1.0 and keeps your settings and queued points. New install: download overland-1.2.1.apk below and open it on your phone. See the README for setup.
