This Privacy Policy explains how iVault ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application ("the App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information.
We collect the following user profile information:
- User ID: A unique identifier generated for your account
- Nickname: A display name you choose (optional)
- Avatar URL: URL to your profile picture (optional)
This information is stored:
- Locally on your device in a local SQLite database
- In iCloud Key-Value Storage for synchronization across your devices (if enabled)
- Encrypted file metadata: File names, sizes, creation dates, notes, and encryption methods
- File data: Your encrypted files (photos, videos, documents) are stored locally on your device
- Encryption keys: Your passwords and patterns are stored locally and are never transmitted to our servers
Important: We do NOT have access to:
- The contents of your encrypted files
- Your encryption passwords or patterns
- The unencrypted data of your files
The App may collect basic usage information for app functionality:
- Device information (model, operating system version)
- App version information
- Crash reports and error logs (if enabled)
- Device identifiers (for app functionality)
- Network information (for avatar image loading)
- File access permissions (for accessing photos and videos)
We use your user profile information to:
- Personalize your experience in the App
- Display your profile information in the App
- Sync your profile across your devices via iCloud
- Identify files you have encrypted (to distinguish ownership)
Encrypted files are:
- Stored locally on your device
- Not transmitted to our servers
- Not accessible to us or third parties
- Managed entirely by you
We use technical information to:
- Improve app performance and stability
- Fix bugs and errors
- Ensure compatibility with devices and operating systems
- Encrypted files and metadata are stored locally on your device
- Local databases (SQLite) are used to store file metadata and user information
- All encryption operations occur locally on your device
- User profile information (nickname, avatar URL, user ID) may be synced to iCloud Key-Value Storage
- This allows your profile to be available across your Apple devices
- Encrypted files are NOT automatically synced to iCloud
- iCloud syncing is subject to Apple's iCloud Terms and Conditions
We implement security measures to protect your information:
- Local data encryption for sensitive information
- Secure storage of encryption keys on device
- No transmission of encryption keys to external servers
- Regular security updates to the App
However, please note:
- No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure
- We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and encryption credentials
We do NOT:
- Sell your personal information to third parties
- Share your encrypted files with anyone
- Access or view your encrypted file contents
- Share your encryption keys or passwords
- Use your information for advertising purposes
- You may choose to share encrypted files (in .ivault format) with others
- Shared files contain the encrypted data and metadata
- The recipient must have the App to decrypt and view the files
- You are responsible for securely sharing encryption credentials with intended recipients
We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to:
- Valid legal process (court orders, subpoenas)
- Government requests
- Protection of our rights or the rights of others
- Prevention of illegal activities or fraud
The App uses Apple services:
- iCloud: For syncing user profile information
- App Store: For app distribution and updates
- Photos Library: For accessing photos and videos (with your permission)
Your use of these services is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
- The App may download avatar images from external URLs (e.g., DiceBear API)
- Downloaded images are cached locally on your device
- External services (like DiceBear) may have their own privacy policies
- The App may make network requests to load avatar images
- These requests do not include your encrypted files or encryption keys
- Standard internet protocols (HTTPS) are used for secure communication
You can:
- View and update your profile information in the App
- Change your nickname and avatar at any time
- Delete encrypted files from your device
You can:
- Delete individual encrypted files through the App
- Delete your entire profile information from the App
- Uninstall the App to remove all local data
- Disable iCloud syncing in your device settings
Note: Deleting the App will remove all local data, including encrypted files and encryption keys. This action cannot be undone.
You can control app permissions through your device settings:
- Photos Access: Required to select and encrypt photos/videos
- Camera Access: Required to take photos/videos for encryption
- Microphone Access: Required to record videos with audio
- Network Access: Required to load avatar images
The App is not intended for users under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of majority in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.
- Encrypted files and metadata are retained on your device until you delete them
- User profile information is retained until you delete it or uninstall the App
- Cached images may be retained locally for performance
- User profile information in iCloud is retained according to Apple's iCloud policies
- You can delete iCloud data by disabling iCloud syncing or deleting the App
When you uninstall the App:
- All local data is deleted
- Encrypted files are permanently removed from your device
- iCloud profile information may remain until manually cleared
- User profile information synced via iCloud may be stored on Apple's servers, which may be located outside your country
- iCloud data transfers are subject to Apple's data transfer policies
- Encrypted files remain on your device and are not transferred internationally
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document
- Posting the updated Privacy Policy in the App
- Providing notice through app updates
Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
By using the App, you consent to:
- The collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy
- The storage of your user profile information on your device and in iCloud
- The local processing and encryption of your files on your device
CRITICAL SECURITY INFORMATION:
- Your encryption passwords and patterns are stored ONLY on your device
- We do NOT have access to your encryption keys
- If you lose your encryption password or pattern, your encrypted files CANNOT be recovered
- You are solely responsible for maintaining the security of your device and encryption credentials
- We recommend using strong, unique passwords for your encrypted files

This Privacy Policy is designed to comply with:
- General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users in the European Union
- California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for users in California
- Other applicable data protection laws

- Encrypted files and encryption keys are stored locally and are never accessible to us
