Your library, from a terminal and from AI tools. Every package now carries prompuff, a small command for scripts, and an MCP server for tools like Claude Code. Nothing is installed or shared until you choose to in Settings › Integrations.

What's new

  • The prompuff command. search, list, get and render read the same library as the app, whether or not it's open, and quick-save stashes text from stdin (git diff | prompuff quick-save --title "Review this diff"). Name a prompt by its title or ID. render "Angular Upgrade Planner" --var repo_name=acme fills in what you pass and leaves the rest as {{tokens}}, listed on stderr. Add --json for scripts. The exit code is 0, 1 for an error, or 2 when no prompt or several prompts match.
  • Install from Settings › Integrations. On Windows, Install adds the command to your user PATH, and uninstalling Prompuff takes it back out. On Linux and macOS, it links ~/.local/bin/prompuff to a copy in Prompuff's data folder and keeps that copy current after updates. Remove undoes it.
  • AI tools can use your library over MCP. prompuff mcp lets an AI tool search, read and render your prompts, and read any prompt as Markdown. Your favorites show up as prompts with their variables as arguments: /mcp__prompuff__… in Claude Code, or the + menu in Claude Desktop. It's read-only, so nothing in the library can be changed or deleted through it.
  • Off until you turn it on. "Let AI tools read my library (MCP)" starts off. While it's off, a tool you've connected gets nothing back, and turning it on works without restarting the tool.
  • Setups ready to copy for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, GitHub Copilot CLI and Codex, with the right path filled in. Copying one offers to turn MCP on. The README lists the same setups.
  • The app keeps up. A prompt saved from the terminal shows up in the open app within two seconds.

Checked by hand: Claude Code and Codex each searched a library and rendered a prompt with variables through Prompuff's MCP server, on Windows. The Copilot CLI setup follows GitHub's docs and hasn't been run by hand yet. CI and the release build run the packaged command on every platform, including under Rosetta on Intel Macs.

Privacy

The command and the MCP server make no network requests. The MCP server only answers the AI tool that started it, and only while the switch is on. What that tool does with a prompt is up to the tool.

Updating

Every platform picks this up through the built-in update check. The library doesn't change format in this release.

Opening Prompuff on macOS

The Mac builds aren't notarized by Apple, so macOS blocks the first launch. Open it once, then go to System Settings › Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway. The README has the details. When Prompuff installs the command, it clears the download's quarantine flag on its copy, so Terminal can run it. That step can't be checked without a Mac, so please open an issue if prompuff won't start.
