A backup brings the card pictures back with the designs: "Back up all" put only the .lyl files into the ZIP, so after a restore every card showed "No preview yet" until its design was opened, in the browser as in Docker. Each card picture now lies next to its design in the ZIP, under the same name as a .png, and a restore puts it back on the card at once (through the same path a duplicate takes, so on the server it is saved there again). A backup made before has no pictures; such a design still gets one when it is opened. Reported by a user by mail.
Sharper text on a Mac: The interface sets -webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased (and -moz-osx-font-smoothing: grayscale), so the heavy weights of Avenir Next no longer look thick and soft on Retina screens. Not seen on a Mac here. Reported by a user by mail.
The list of designs is no longer lost when the browser's storage is full, and lost designs come back (#656): The start page keeps its list of designs in localStorage, which holds only a few megabytes, and on layerling.com each card picture was written into that list. With many designs the list stopped fitting, and the way round a full storage took the list out before writing it again: when the second write failed too, the list was gone. The start page showed the folders, all empty, and opening the designs again to get pictures filled the storage once more. The card pictures now live in a database of their own, so the list stays small, and a list that does not fit leaves the one before it in place with a note. The shapes of the designs were never touched: they lie in IndexedDB, and the start page now brings back every design whose shapes are there but whose card was lost, with its name, at the top level; a design that a backup already brought back, or that is there twice, comes back once, the newest.
Sketch outlines can be locked, and the frame can keep its proportions (#653): In the sketch only the template image could be locked, and a selection kept its proportions only while Shift was held on a corner. The bar of a selection now has Lock (also the key L, which still locks the template image when that is selected): the lock sits on the outline's points, and the editor refuses any change that would move a locked point, change its handles or kind, or remove, cut up or change a side between two locked points - so every tool, the arrow keys and Delete respect it without a rule of their own, and a drag shows nothing moving. A locked outline draws paler and its frame has no handles to stretch or turn it; lines may still start at its corners. Keep proportions beside it makes the corners and the sides stretch both ways alike and a typed width or height change the other one too; the switch is remembered in the browser. The logic is in sketchLock.ts and sketchSelectionResize.ts with unit tests; locked on a sketch point is checked when a design is loaded; the sketch chapter of the guide (EN/DE) and the shortcut list say so. Compartments for Gridfinity bins (#554): Dividing a bin meant grouping thin boxes into it and keeping them under the stacking lip by hand. A bin of 2 height units or more now has Compartments below Properties: Columns and Rows, up to 4 per grid unit each way and 40 in all, with dividers 1.2 mm thick (0.8 to 3) that stop where the label shelves do, clear of the feet of a bin stacked on the lip. They start evenly spaced and move one by one, every compartment at least 6 mm wide. Corners and floor edges are rounded by 2.8 mm, and finger scoops repeat in every compartment, made smaller in a narrow compartment, and left out where even 3.5 mm does not fit. From 3 height units each compartment can have a label shelf of its own on any side, 10 to 100 % of that side's length, at either end or in the middle, never closing it off; in a divided bin these take the place of the shelves along the walls, which come back with one compartment. It stays an exact body for the edge tool and STEP. Also through the MCP action layerling_create_shape with gridfinityCompartmentsX/Z, gridfinityDividerThickness, gridfinityDividerPositionsX/Z and gridfinityCompartmentLabels. Ctrl or Cmd with the left button moves the view again (#654): The guide promised that holding Ctrl and dragging with the left button moves the view, but it turned it: layerling asked OrbitControls for a pan on that button, and OrbitControls swaps pan and rotate by itself while Ctrl, Cmd or Shift is held. On a MacBook without a middle button there was no way left to move the view. The left button now asks for rotate with Ctrl or Cmd, which the swap turns into a pan, in the editor and in the Simplify comparison alike (leftButtonCameraAction in cameraMouseButtons.ts, with a unit test that also pins the swap in three.js). The mouse table of the guide names Cmd in every language, and in English and German says how it goes on a MacBook trackpad. Tried in a headless Edge with Ctrl and with Cmd. A fillet no longer leaves a body with gaps in its mesh (#651): A third 1 mm fillet round a pocket in a block gave a valid exact body, but its mesh had 30 open edges at one corner: the two faces along one fillet edge were each meshed with points of their own. The body showed hollow in the section view, and the next cut (a Round Roof set as a hole) or Split stopped at "Not manifold". After an edge treatment the mesh is now checked, and one with gaps is made again from the body's faces sewn together anew at 0.000001 mm, which gives the same body, the same volume and a closed mesh; a body whose mesh is closed is left as it was. The check and the sewing are in cadMeshAccuracy.ts (cadMeshHasOpenEdges, closedMeshBody), with a kernel test on the body from the report (cadMeshClosedAfterFillet.e2e.ts). A design that already holds such a body keeps its mesh until that fillet is undone and made again. Reported by @danyvanimpe-lab on GitHub.
