The research team includes hydrologists, data scientists, and social scientists with a wide variety of water research interests and experience working throughout the region, including in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile. Our diverse experiences fostered a communal interest in the state of water science in this region and led to an interdisciplinary research project to explore this topic.
The goals of this research project are to:
- Classify the state of the science of water resources research in Latin America and the Caribbean in terms of topics, locations, scales, and methodologies.
- Describe characteristics of bright spots of successful water research in countries and/or sub-fields.
- Identify opportunities for water resources research by understanding the emergence of concepts, links, and barriers between countries and sub-fields of water resources research, and scientific collaboration networks.
We are using interdisciplinary methods to address these goals and answer our research questions.
