ZeroFG 1.0.2

@hy300leosquizz-ctrl hy300leosquizz-ctrl released this 09 Oct 21:17

The engine and the presenter behind XenDroid-ZeroFG 1.0.2. The engine is unchanged; this release is the reference host's pacing.

  • The output follows the game's real rate (the presenter): the clock follows the trimmed mean of the game's last eight frame intervals, each without the time the game waited on ZeroFG, and runs up to a fifth faster while frames sit deeper than needed, until the delay is gone. A game alternating 33 and 50 ms frames used to leave the clock stuck, with about half a second of delay in Arkham City. Nothing is skipped.
  • Fewer stutters when the frame rate changes: when the clock changes pace, the new timing starts at the floor of the next real frame instead of leaving a slot nothing fills (Modern Warfare 3, heavy scenes: holds 3.6 % -> 0.7 %).
  • Guest pacing for emulator hosts (host/xenia-android/xendroid_glue/guest-pacing.patch): a game frame already late for its vblank gets it at once (the vblank it replaces is skipped, so the game keeps its speed), and a game frame rate cap gives a GPU-bound game's frame generation room (Modern Warfare 3 at 40: the same ~80 fps on screen, 70 -> 55 ms of lag).

Details in host/xenia-android and INTEGRATION.md (section 6, Pace). FetchContent with GIT_TAG v1.0.2.

ZeroFG 1.0.1

@hy300leosquizz-ctrl hy300leosquizz-ctrl released this 09 Oct 03:29

The engine and the presenter behind XenDroid-ZeroFG 1.0.1.

  • Lower latency, steadier below 30 fps (the presenter): the presentation can run a few refreshes ahead to drain delay that late frames leave behind, with nothing skipped; the game's wait for its own GPU no longer counts as backpressure, so pacing follows a GPU-bound game; the pre-priority operating point (pacing section 7) is off. Pair it with two game frames in flight. Details in host/xenia-android.
  • Any picture size: a picture the cell grid does not divide runs padded to the next one it does (Halo 3, 1152 x 640). Tiled pictures are bit-identical to 1.0.0.
  • A fail-open drain that completes: the handback no longer freezes on ZeroFG's last frame after a refusal.
  • A build guard in the reference host: a driver that crashes compiling ZeroFG's pipelines runs Compat at the next launch, and ZeroFG turns off after a second crash.

ed39ced

The engine and the presenter behind XenDroid-ZeroFG 1.0.

  • Zero and ReallyZero: frame generation with motion estimated on a 20-pixel grid and checked at full resolution; ReallyZero is the lighter tier for weaker GPUs.
  • A standalone build: FetchContent with GIT_TAG v1.0.0, Vulkan 1.3 with synchronization2. See INTEGRATION.md.
  • The presenter as shipped in XenDroid-ZeroFG 1.0, with a porting guide: host/xenia-android.
  • GPU priority on Adreno: ZeroFG's work must not wait behind the game's on a saturated GPU; the adrenotools patch and its notes are in host/xenia-android/adrenotools.

Apache-2.0, with the Xenia-derived reference files under BSD 3-Clause and the adrenotools patch under BSD 2-Clause.
