GnollHack 4.3.0 Build 1 makes the following changes:

App

Save File Transfer and Platform Compatibility:

  • Added Save File Transfer functionality to move saved games across platforms, accessible via a new button in Vault.
  • Migrated all C struct bitfields (such as struct monst and struct obj) to explicit, platform-portable bitmask flags to fix cross-platform save game compatibility issues. Bitfields have been entirely removed.

Other:

  • Settings have now descriptions that can be viewed by tapping or clicking on the setting label.
  • Migrated C code to ANSI C89 from K&R

Game Content

New Monsters:

  • Added 28 new monsters (and 4 for future use)
    • Rakshasas (including rakshasa rajah and rakshasa maharaja) that are immune to normal weapons similar to shades and that have an illusory appearance similar to a cloned Wizard of Yendor.
    • New dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures, mostly encountered on caveman levels.
    • Saber-tooth tigers. Changed the starting pet for the caveman role to a saber-tooth tiger cub. There are now also tigername and tigergender options for saber-tooth tigers.
    • Griffon, elder griffon, nightmare, and bulette.
    • Orc hermit also got his own monster and graphics.

New Spells and Adjustments:

  • Added 6 new spells: Astral Vision, True Seeing, Dominate Undead, Polymorph Self, Shape Change, and Unholy Mount.
  • Polymorph spell is now called Polymorph Other (although you can still target yourself).
  • New true seeing property gives the ability to see through invisibility, illusions / mimicry, hallucinations, and polymorphed forms.
  • Redesigned the spell duration system to be additive but capped at the maximum possible single-cast roll (i.e., number of dice × die size + 2 x constant).
  • Increased Astral Vision range to 5 to distinguish it further from X-ray vision.

New Items and Adjustments:

  • Added 5 new items: Gem of seeing (gives true seeing) and 4 ioun stones: Magical breathing, fire resistance, cold resistance, and shock resistance.
  • Allowed gnolls of all alignments to obtain the Howling Flail.
  • Belts of giant strength have now varying chances of wishing success, with storm giant strength at 33% and hill giant strength at 100%. If it fails, a belt of hill giant strength is obtained instead.

Graphics & Animations:

  • Added Wizard of Yendor animations.
  • Added animations for dracolich and elder dracolich.
  • Added attack and kick animations for male valkyries.
  • Added new graphics for greater mummies, orc king, and orc queen.
  • Added corpse graphics for dwarves, piercers, and gargoyles.

Bug Fixes:

  • Several bug fixes

Zip file contains the legacy Windows version, while the MSIX package includes the modern Windows version.
