π What's New in v1.1.06
π¨ Refined Expressive UI
- Predictive back gesture animation β the player sheet now smoothly scales down and fades when using the new Android 15 back gesture, with a satisfying spring-to-dismiss motion.
- Adaptive blur intensity β background blur on player sheets and share cards now dynamically adjusts based on album artwork brightness, preventing unreadable text on light-colored covers.
- Mini-player art protection β album artwork in the collapsed mini-player is now protected against accidental tap-to-close gestures, requiring an intentional swipe to dismiss.
- New Now Playing transition β expanding the mini-player into the full sheet now uses a shared-element transition where the album cover morphs seamlessly from thumbnail to hero size.
- Landscape orientation support β the full player screen now gracefully adapts to landscape on tablets and foldables, placing artwork and controls side-by-side with a persistent queue drawer.
π§ Enhanced AI & Discovery
- Prompt templates β the AI playlist generator now ships with 12 curated prompt templates (e.g., "Late-night lofi beats", "Gym rage metal", "Focus: no lyrics") for instant generation without typing.
- Provider fallback chain β configure a primary and backup AI provider in Settings. If Gemini is rate-limited, the app silently falls back to DeepSeek or Groq without interrupting your flow.
- AI playlist art generation β generated playlists now receive a unique, algorithmically-tinted cover image based on the dominant mood keywords in your prompt.
- Smart Mix improvements β Last.fm-powered Smart Mixes now respect your existing library, avoiding duplicates of tracks already in your local collection.
- Daily mix auto-refresh β your Daily Mix carousel refreshes automatically at 6 AM local time based on the previous day's listening patterns.
π€ Lyrics & Language
- Inline karaoke mode β lyrics now display in a karaoke-style bouncing-ball highlight that smoothly animates between synced words rather than scrolling line-by-line.
- Auto-translation memory β if you translate a foreign track's lyrics to English (or any target language), Pixel Music remembers your preference and auto-translates future tracks by the same artist.
- Romaji/romanization toggle β one-tap switch between original, romanized, and translated lyrics for CJK tracks without leaving the player sheet.
- LRCLIB search fallback β if the automatic lyrics fetch misses, the player sheet now shows a manual search button that queries LRCLIB directly with editable title/artist fields.
π Streaming & Cloud
- YouTube Music stream quality selector β manually choose between Low (64 kbps AAC), Normal (128 kbps AAC), High (256 kbps AAC), or Auto (adaptive based on bandwidth) in Settings.
- Telegram background sync β channel audio is now indexed in the background via WorkManager. New uploads appear in your library within minutes without requiring a manual refresh.
- Google Drive offline pinning β pin specific cloud folders or albums for local download, creating a hybrid offline/cloud library. Managed via a new "Cloud Cache" section in Settings.
- Stream proxy resilience β the local HTTP stream proxy now recovers from mid-stream network drops without restarting the track, using a seamless retry buffer.
- M3U playlist import β import network M3U and M3U8 playlists (e.g., internet radio streams) directly into your library. Streams are validated on add and marked with a live-indicator badge.
β‘ Audio & Playback
- New equalizer presets β added "Podcast / Voice", "Electronic / EDM", and "Classical / Orchestral" presets tuned for those specific frequency profiles.
- Per-song EQ override β long-press a track in the queue to assign a custom EQ preset that persists for that specific song across sessions.
- Audio focus ducking β when navigation apps or notifications request audio focus, Pixel Music now smoothly ducks volume by 80 % rather than hard-pausing, resuming seamlessly afterward.
- Bluetooth LDAC preference β on supported devices, the app now hints to the system to prefer LDAC over AAC/SBC when connecting to high-resolution Bluetooth headphones.
- Gapless for OPUS & ALAC β previously limited to FLAC and MP3, gapless playback now works correctly for OPUS and ALAC-encoded local tracks.
π² Widgets & Tiles
- New 5Γ1 wide widget β a full-width banner widget showing album art, track info, and full playback controls for wider home-screen layouts and tablets.
- Widget color adaption β all Glance widgets now sync their background tint to the current album's Material You palette, rather than using a static theme color.
- Quick Settings tile state β the Shuffle All and Last Playlist tiles now correctly display their active state (highlighted) when the corresponding mode is engaged.
- Wear OS tile β a new native Wear OS tile shows your most recent 4 playlists for one-tap launch directly from the watch face carousel.
π Stats & Insights
- Listening streaks β your stats hub now tracks daily listening streaks and awards milestone badges (7-day, 30-day, 100-day streaks).
- Year-in-review preview β a new card in the stats screen shows a running summary of your current year's top artists, genres, and total hours, updating weekly.
- Shareable stats cards β tap the share button on any stats card to generate a glassmorphism-style image of your listening stats for social media.
π§ Improvements Since v1.0.06
- APK size β further reduced by pruning unused Material You color resource tables and optimizing baseline profile metadata. arm64-v8a is now ~32β40 MB.
- Cold start β additional 10 % improvement by deferring WorkManager initialization until after the first screen is rendered.
- Queue performance β scrolling through queues of 1,000+ tracks is now buttery smooth thanks to improved lazy-list item recycling and album-art thumbnail pooling.
- Chromecast β reduced connection handshake time by 30 % on first cast; improved recovery after Wi-Fi network switches.
- Wear OS β battery drain during phone-sync reduced by 40 % through batched data-layer updates instead of per-track pushes.
- AI generation β prompt parsing is now ~2Γ faster due to local keyword caching and batched LLM API requests.
- Backup & restore β
.pxplexport now includes AI playlist metadata, widget placement preferences, and per-song EQ overrides. Import is backward-compatible with v1.0.06 backups. - Database β migration from v1.0.06 to v1.1.06 is seamless and preserves all scrobble history, play counts, and offline caches.
- Telegram β thumbnail generation for channel audio now uses Coil instead of a custom fetcher, reducing memory pressure by 60 % during bulk imports.
- Google Drive β folder pagination for 10,000+ files now streams in chunks and shows a progress indicator rather than freezing the UI.
- Notification β media notification now updates its artwork instantly on track change instead of showing a 1β2 second placeholder.
- Battery β background sync workers now respect the system's Doze state and schedule next runs during maintenance windows, reducing idle battery drain.
π Bug Fixes
- Fixed Snapchat share cards rendering blank when the album art aspect ratio was non-square (e.g., older 4:3 CD scans).
- Fixed AI playlist generation failing silently when API key contained invisible Unicode characters (zero-width spaces, smart quotes). Keys are now sanitized on input.
- Fixed lyrics offset slider losing precision when dragged quickly; it now commits the final value after the finger is lifted rather than on every drag frame.
- Fixed equalizer "Custom" preset reverting to "Flat" after disconnecting a wired headset on some OnePlus and Oppo devices.
- Fixed Android Auto voice search returning "No results" for artist names containing accented characters (e.g., BeyoncΓ©, MotΓΆrhead).
- Fixed Glance widgets freezing on launchers that aggressively kill background processes (e.g., some Xiaomi and Samsung launchers) by adding a periodic heartbeat refresh.
- Fixed Quick Settings tiles showing stale track info after the app process was killed by the system and later revived.
- Fixed Wear OS companion showing a black square instead of album art when the source image was a WebP with transparency.
- Fixed crash when importing an M3U playlist containing HTTP 302 redirect URLs that pointed to expired domains.
- Fixed share sheet showing "Pixel Music" as a duplicate target alongside the system "Open With" dialog on Android 15.
- Fixed notification seekbar thumb disappearing when the track duration exceeded 2 hours (long podcasts, DJ mixes).
- Fixed last.fm scrobble queue growing indefinitely when the device was offline for >7 days; oldest entries are now pruned after reaching 500 buffered scrobbles.

Android emulators, Intel tablets, Chromebooks |
Not sure which one to pick?
- Go to Settings β About Phone.
- Look for Processor or CPU.
- If it says
64-bit,ARMv8,AArch64, or lists a Snapdragon 6/7/8-series chip, download arm64-v8a.- When in doubt, arm64-v8a is the safest choice.
π οΈ Installation
Fresh Install
- Download the correct APK for your device architecture from the table above.
- Open the file on your Android device (via browser downloads, Telegram, or file manager).
- Tap Install.
- If you see a security prompt, tap Settings and allow installation from this source.
- Launch Pixel Music from your app drawer.
Upgrade from v1.0.06
This is a direct upgrade β you do not need to uninstall first. Android will update the app in-place and preserve all data.
- Download the same architecture APK you installed previously (e.g., if you had
arm64-v8a, downloadarm64-v8aagain). - Open the APK and tap Update.
- Your playlists, favorites, history, AI playlists, settings, and API keys will all carry over automatically.
Note: If you somehow switch architectures (e.g., arm64-v8a β armeabi-v7a), Android will block the install. You must uninstall the old version first, which will erase data. Always match the architecture.
First-time sideloaders: Android may show a "Play Protect" warning for apps outside the Play Store. Tap More details β Install anyway to proceed. Pixel Music does not contain malware; this warning is standard for all non-Play-Store APKs.
β οΈ Known Issues
- Snapchat story sharing requires the Snapchat app to be installed and logged in. On very low-end devices (2 GB RAM), blurred background effects may fallback to a solid color.
- AI playlist generation requires an active internet connection and a valid provider API key. Free-tier API keys may encounter rate limits during peak hours; the app will retry automatically via the fallback chain if configured.
- Android Auto voice search for Telegram channels is not yet supported; use on-screen browse instead.
- Google Drive folder load time for 10,000+ files may exceed 5 seconds on slow connections; caching improves subsequent visits.
- Per-song EQ overrides are saved locally and do not sync to Wear OS or Android Auto; they apply only on the phone speaker / Bluetooth output.
