Backstop 1.7 improves snapshot capture and restore safety.

  • Reject filesystem links in source trees, backup libraries, snapshot manifests and restore destinations.
  • Detect directory collisions and files blocking parent folders before copying the first restore file.
  • Record file sizes from snapshot copies and reject the reserved root manifest.json filename without changing the source.
  • Preserve existing snapshot formats, settings and scheduled tasks.

Windows application and installer CI passed on the release commit. Engine, analysis and scheduling regressions passed. The downloaded portable executable is checked with headless comparison and restore-preview commands before publication. Setup installs for the current account and bundles the runtime; a portable ZIP is also included.

Restore copies are not transactional. Keep snapshots and target folders unchanged during restores. Local symbolic-link fixture creation was unavailable; hosted CI results are linked in repository Actions.
