Wiki Image Manifest

This is an internal working document (not a published wiki page: GitHub wiki ignores files it doesn't link, and nothing links to this). It tracks every image the wiki needs: which already have a placeholder reference in a page, which still need a reference added, the exact content each shot should show, and the manager state required to capture it.

Legend: Type:

  • 📷 Screenshot. Capture from the manager UI
  • 🖥️ OS screenshot: Windows dialog (UAC, firewall, joy.cpl, DCS/BMS UI)
  • 🔧 Photo. Physical hardware photo
  • ✏️ Diagram. Illustration/wiring diagram (can be drawn, not captured)

Legend: Status:

  • ✅ Referenced. The page already has an ![...](images/...) tag waiting for the file
  • ➕ To add. Image would help but no reference exists in the page yet

All files go in images/ and are referenced as images/<name>.png.

Capture status (updated 2026-06-28)

Captured from the live manager (via the fake-board harness; see bottom section). These are real 1920×1032 PNGs already in images/:

  • home-overview.png, home-new-board-detected.png

  • board-new-badge.png, board-configured.png, swap-export-config.png

  • board-wizard-open.png, board-wizard-name.png, board-wizard-panels.png, board-wizard-review.png

  • pin-assign-panel-view.png, pin-assign-autosuggest.png (= same screen), pin-assign-export.png (= wizard review showing Export pinout)

  • test-live-view.png, avionics-panels.png, avionics-instruments.png (ELEC panel + instruments tab)

  • settings-page.png

  • dcs-setup-dialog.png, dcs-setup-button.png (= DCS Integration dialog, Installed)

  • bms-driver-ready.png, bms-keyfile-dialog.png (= Export to BMS dialog, 4 of 4 devices ready)

  • VFT5 (captured with a real stick connected, 2026-06-28): vft5-firmware-page.png / firmware-page.png (Connected, fw 1.0.0), vft5-live-force.png (Live force gauges + F-16 FLCS actuation presets), vft5-profiles-page.png (grip = Warthog, sim = DCS, "joy.cpl will show 7 buttons and 4 POV hats"), vft5-buttons.png (live grip button map + 4 POV hats)

  • Windows joy.cpl (captured 2026-06-28): joycpl-ghost-joysticks.png (Game Controllers list: AIM Ghost Joystick 1-4 + Viper Force Transducer, all OK), vft5-joycpl.png (VFT5 Test panel: X/Y axes, 7 buttons, POV hat)

  • Multi-Display Management dialog (captured 2026-06-28, user opened it + added a 2nd monitor): mfd-detected-displays.png, bms-apply-displays.png, display-management-dialog.png. Full dialog (2 detected displays: NOVATEK primary + an 800×600 second monitor; 5 role dropdowns; APPLY DCS/BMS; launch-without-override warning). mfd-assign-roles.png. Same dialog with Left MFD assigned to the 2nd display and its CALIBRATE active. mfd-calibrate.png. The CALIBRATE popup (X/Y offset, scale, step size, SHOW ALIGNMENT CROSSHAIR). The assignment was reverted afterward (never applied to DCS/BMS).

  • Captured 2026-06-28 (user staged DCS + a pot): test-calibrate-pot.png (pot calibration dialog), dcs-monitor-options.png (DCS Options → System with Monitors = AIM MFDs), swap-import-config.png (wizard Identity step with Import config from file…. The real import entry point; the Swap page text was corrected to match).

Still outstanding (could not be captured headlessly / need real artifacts):

  • display-management-card.png. Cropped from home-overview.png (done).
  • network-fix-banner.png: captured 2026-06-28 (user removed 192.168.100.1; banner reads "AIM network not configured", with adapter picker + Fix button).
  • dcs-connected.png: DCS "Connected" status doesn't exist yet (Task #127).
  • Install flow (captured/produced 2026-06-28, user reinstalled): install-mode.png (real: Select install mode, "Install for me only") and install-wizard.png (real: Select Destination, per-user path) are genuine captures. install-firewall-prompt.png is an accurate SVG reproduction (rendered to PNG via headless Chrome; validated against a real Windows firewall dialog). The real prompt can't be re-triggered because the firewall rule for the manager's exe path already exists. There is no install-uac-prompt. The installer is per-user (PrivilegesRequired=lowest) and EV-signed, so the manager install shows no UAC; that step was removed from the Install page.
  • bms-launch-without-override.png: captured 2026-06-28 (real BMS launcher, "Launch without applying overrides" ticked). The launcher formerly known as the FalconBMS Alternative Launcher is now the default BMS launcher; the wiki wording was updated from "Launch without any Setup override" to the launcher's actual label "Launch without applying overrides".
  • bms-controllers-load.png: captured 2026-06-28 (in-sim Setup → Controllers, Invictus AIM F-16 keyfile loaded).
  • bms-axis-assign.png: captured 2026-06-28 (BMS launcher AXIS ASSIGN tab; axes are assigned there, not in the keyfile: Assign-Axes-in-BMS page updated to match).
  • rttclient-tray.png: intentionally skipped (low value; a tray-icon shot). Not referenced by any page.
  • firmware-flashing.png. Only capturable mid-flash (needs an actual firmware upload in progress).
  • All 🔧 hardware photos and ✏️ wiring diagrams.

Note: the firmware (Right Aft Console) and pin-assign captures used the all preset of mock_boards.py, which announces this machine's two registered board UUIDs so they show green/configured. The wizard captures used + Add board.

Capturing manager screenshots without hardware / a running sim

Summary: there is no single "mimic mode" flag. But the manager's board discovery is a plain TCP protocol, so a small helper script can make fake boards appear online. Enough to capture most of the manager-UI screenshots with no real hardware. A few states genuinely can't be faked.

The fake-board helper

mock_boards.py (kept in C:\Users\Chris\Documents\aim-dev-tools\, outside this repo) connects to the running manager on 127.0.0.1:8888 and pretends to be one or more boards. Stdlib only. No install needed to run it.

Flow:

  1. Launch the manager (any normal launch; add --dev to also un-hide the Debug log / Deadband / Factory pages; see below).
  2. In a second terminal: python mock_boards.py (default preset = a NEW Sidewinder + NEW Phoenix + an UNCONFIGURED board).
  3. Screenshot the Network-page states, open the wizard, etc.
  4. For the green/configured look: python mock_boards.py --preset configured, then run the real wizard on each board and Save. The fake board acks the config push and "reboots," and the manager matches it to the registry entry it just wrote → the row turns green with the name you chose. This also lets you screenshot pin-assignment, auto-suggest, export, live view, and swap export/import. All the configured-board screens.

What each state needs

Image group Fakeable? How
Network: NEW / UNCONFIGURED badges mock_boards.py default preset
Network: green configured board --preset configured + run the real wizard
Board wizard (open/name/panels) Open the wizard on a fake NEW board
Pin assignment / auto-suggest / export After the wizard configures a fake board
Live / Test view (static) Configured fake board (switch movement would need the script to also send CTL: messages, not built yet)
Swap export/import config Configured fake board + a second NEW one
Display Management card + dialog Already works with no hardware; detected-displays list = your real monitors
DCS card: Installed / Update available Run the real install (just a file copy), or place an older copy for the stale state
Settings page Always available
Avionics panels / instruments Always renders the full F-16C catalog, no hardware
Home overview (hero) With fake boards online
Update banner ⚠️ Needs an actual newer release published (or a dev-forced state)
Firmware page (board) Fake board appears as a flash target; an actual flash needs a real board
BMS driver "devices ready" / joy.cpl Ghost Joysticks Needs the real EV-signed driver installed + devices provisioned (UAC). Not fakeable.
VFT5 stick connected (firmware version, apply) Needs a real VFT5 on USB. (The Profiles grip dropdown + preview do render with no stick.)
OS dialogs (UAC, firewall, DCS Options, BMS Launcher, RTTClient tray) Capture live during real install/use
Hardware photos / wiring diagrams Physical photos / drawn diagrams

Dev mode

Launch with --dev (or triple-click the logo in-app) to un-hide developer pages: Debug log, Deadband, Factory calibration. Dev mode does NOT inject fake hardware or fake sim/connection states. Those still come from the real artifacts above. It's only useful if you want to document those dev pages.
