Plinth 0.3.0-beta.1 — VTT-ready bases
This release opens the 0.3 line with one headline feature: every base you cut can now come out as a colored, VTT-ready GLB alongside its print STL.
VTT GLB export
Flip the new "VTT export (GLB)" switch in the cut step and each base exports a .glb twin next to its .stl:
- Terrain reads as terrain — forest floor as brown earth, sandy dunes as Sahara sand, rocky ground as grey stone, cobblestones as grey setts over dark mortar, and lava as black crust with glowing orange channels (real emissive material, it lights up under VTT scene lighting).
- The base body reads as black plastic — skirt, bottom, and plinth, just like the printed miniature base it mirrors.
- Scatter is colored too: skulls and bones in bone-white, mushrooms, leaf litter, twigs, grass tufts — every piece painted at placement.
- True to scale: GLBs use standard glTF conventions (meters, Y-up) — a 32 mm base is exactly 0.032 units. Importers that auto-fit tokens to a grid square work out of the box.
- The print STL is untouched: with the switch off, the pipeline is bit-for-bit the same as 0.2.
In-app color preview
The landscape viewport gained a "Color preview" toggle — see the painted terrain and scatter colors before you cut, without leaving the app. Preset chips now show their palette as two color dots.
"Add to catalog" automatically brings .glb files along with their STLs.
Fixes
- The sidebar version label was frozen at "v0.1" — it now reads the real app version.
Good to know
- Apple's Preview/Quick Look does not display glTF vertex colors (a SceneKit limitation) — GLBs from Plinth will look mostly white there. Use the in-app color preview, Blender, or any web-based glTF viewer to check colors; VTT platforms built on web renderers display them correctly.
