Dawn 1.7.1

Homecoming and Adieu added, with performance improvements and bug fixes.

Missions

  • Homecoming: added the Red War opening mission, including its opening scenes, Tower progression, encounters, ship-barrier sequence, and transition into Adieu.
  • Adieu: added the City escape, Ghost reunion, mountain traversal, falcon sequences, encounters, soundtrack cues, and Hawthorne rescue ending. The mission starts with Traveler's Chosen (Damaged), with weapon pickups available along the way.

Performance and bug fixes

  • Includes the existing stutter and runtime performance improvements.
  • Fixed Adieu's City-exit stall and Ghost cleanup timing so his dialogue can finish before he disappears.
  • Fixed Homecoming opening, native scene playback, and progression issues.
  • Restored campaign objective and route-marker behavior across New Light, Gateway, A Deadly Trial, Beyond Infinity, Deep Storage, Tree of Probabilities, A Garden World, and Hijacked.
  • Ported the New Light lighting hotfix: the Breach switch starts the authored room-lighting sequence and sound once, while preserving Ghost's return and subsequent shutter progression.

Dawn 1.7 Preview 1

This preview adds Adieu (Exodus), expands Homecoming, and restores mission guidance across the current campaign build.

Included changes

  • Adieu: City escape, Ghost reunion, mountain traversal, falcon scenes, encounters, soundtrack cues, and the ending rescue sequence. Ghost cleanup now waits for the observed dialogue window and handles the native scene completing after its selector disappears, fixing the City-exit stall. The starting loadout contains Traveler's Chosen (Damaged), with weapon pickups available later in the mission.
  • Homecoming: opening and continuation fixes, native scene playback, ship-barrier progression, proximity-triggered progression, and opening-fade handling across the transition into Adieu.
  • Mission guidance: restored route markers and objective behavior for New Light, Gateway, A Deadly Trial, Beyond Infinity, Deep Storage, Tree of Probabilities, A Garden World, and Hijacked.

Thanks to rhys-magno for providing the baseplate and scene planning for Homecoming.

Install or update

Download and extract Dawn-1.7-preview.1.zip. Close Destiny 2, then run Update-Dawn.cmd to preserve an existing Dawn save and settings. Use Install-Dawn.cmd for a fresh save. Keep the entire extracted package together.

Requires an existing Destiny 2 installation of build 86657.20.08.23.1800.d2_rc with its complete packages folder. The game is not included.

Validation and preview status

  • Release x64 production build passed. Its captured build inputs match the released source.
  • 658 Adieu checks and installed package-binding validation passed.
  • The latest live run confirmed Ghost retirement and progression from the City into the outskirts.
  • The waypoint port previously passed 9,715 offline comparisons and 38 additional lifecycle checks. The broad A Garden World suite still has a known assertion against an older Forest anchor layout; the recovered duplicate-marker checks pass separately.
  • Full mission playthrough coverage and performance verification remain in progress. This is a prerelease for testing.

The player ZIP includes the installer/updater, runtime DLL, mission scripts, clean defaults, vendor rules, event presets, licenses, and file-hash manifest. Local saves, settings, caches, logs, source files, and debug symbols are excluded.

v.0.1.5.2 Curse of Osiris and New Light Mission Waypoint Fixes

Choose a tag to compare

@GeorgeRatington GeorgeRatington released this 20 Sep 22:07

Complete prebuilt Windows x64 player release. Extract Dawnv0.1.5.2.zip and run Install-Dawn.cmd; no compiler or source checkout is needed. Requires the existing archived Destiny 2 build 86657.20.08.23.1800.d2_rc. Game files are not included.

Changes

  • Fix missing, misplaced, backward-facing, and repeatedly flashing mission waypoints in New Light and the Mercury campaign, using the game's authored navigation routes.
  • New Light: restore route progression and steady markers, including the final indoor doorway before going outside.
  • Gateway: correct Forest entrance guidance and the return route to Brother Vance.
  • A Deadly Trial: correct the opening doorway/stair route and prevent missing or flashing markers.
  • Beyond Infinity: advance guidance through portals, Osiris reflection encounters, and return trips instead of leaving markers behind or losing them.
  • Deep Storage: restore guidance through the plate, conflux, and doorway sequence, plus the final platforms, box, and conflux targets.
  • Tree of Probabilities and A Garden World: follow the nearby Forest route without the incorrect distant duplicate marker.
  • Hijacked: restore opening, cave, area-transition, and processor-objective guidance; reduce repeated objective-banner updates.
  • Preserve the previously tested Omega behavior, New Light lighting correction, and earlier release fixes.

Installation and saves

Existing Dawn characters, inventory, progress, identity, and settings are preserved when updating. Close Destiny, extract the whole ZIP, and run Install-Dawn.cmd against your existing Dawn game folder. Do not uninstall first. The installer backs up files under .dawn/release-backups; see READ-ME.txt for rollback instructions.

Existing graphics preferences and key bindings are left unchanged on an update. A fresh installation creates a new Dawn profile and may set Windowed Fullscreen while retaining resolution, quality, and bindings. First launch after an update rebuilds caches and may take longer.

No publisher accounts, saves, caches, logs, game assets, or Restoration server are included. Runtime defaults are taken from the release payload, not the publisher's personal game folder.

Release assets

  • Dawnv0.1.5.2.zip: complete player installer and runtime.
  • SHA256SUMS.txt: checksum for the exact player ZIP.

v0.1.5.1 Hotfix

Choose a tag to compare

@GeorgeRatington GeorgeRatington released this 20 Sep 01:58

Dawn 0.1.5.1 Hotfix - New Light lighting

Complete prebuilt Windows x64 release based on Dawn 0.1.5.1, with the New Light lighting correction confirmed working in gameplay.

Fixes

  • Restores New Light's authored lights-on scene when Ghost activates the switch, including its lighting and sound sequence.
  • Resolves the scene through its current engine handle instead of reusing a stale component address.
  • Keeps the existing 0.1.5.1 mission content and fixes, including the recent Gateway and 1AU work.
  • Install-Dawn.cmd automatically preserves existing Dawn characters, inventory, progress, and settings, as in the earlier 0.1.3-Hotfix. A fresh save is created only on a first-time installation.

Installation

Under Assets, download 0.1.5.1-Hotfix.zip, extract the entire ZIP, close Destiny 2, and run Install-Dawn.cmd. Select the folder containing destiny2.exe, then launch normally. Do not download GitHub's Source code ZIP to install the game client.

Requires the existing archived Destiny 2 build 86657.20.08.23.1800.d2_rc. No compiler or source checkout is needed. Game files are not included.

Existing Dawn profiles and native graphics/key-binding settings are preserved on update. Packaged mission files are refreshed; backups and rollback are included. First-time installation sets Windowed Fullscreen while retaining existing resolution, quality, and bindings. See READ-ME.txt for details. Do not uninstall first: the uninstaller deletes Dawn saves and backups.

Dawn 0.1.5.1 — Gateway fix

Choose a tag to compare

@isinternets isinternets released this 19 Sep 19:46

Dawn 0.1.5.1 — Gateway fix AND third person

Gateway's final cannon could launch the player while its visual effect was off
and enemies were still alive. Its launch force now waits for the same final
encounter clear as its visual effect. Leaving one required enemy alive keeps
both inactive; defeating the final enemy releases both.

This release also includes the camera controls merged since 0.1.5: camera key
bindings in the Dawn menu and improved detection of function-key taps. File
logging is enabled in the default settings, and the package includes the
standalone Dawn uninstaller with its documentation.

thank you flummoxed!

Install or update

Requires Destiny 2 build 86657.20.08.23.1800.d2_rc and its complete game packages.

  1. Download Dawn-0.1.5.1.zip under Assets and extract the whole ZIP.
  2. Close Destiny 2.
  3. Run Update-Dawn.cmd to keep your saves and settings. Use Install-Dawn.cmd
    only for a fresh profile.
  4. Select the folder containing destiny2.exe, then launch the game normally.

Updates preserve existing logging preferences. New installations enable file
logging by default. The updater keeps a rollback backup under .dawn/release-backups.
The included Uninstall-Dawn.cmd permanently removes Dawn saves, settings,
caches and backups; it is only for completely removing Dawn.

Validation

Gateway tests passed 275,760 checks in each of Debug and Release, including
the one-enemy-alive regression and matching launch/VFX activation. The pinned
native force-accumulation boundary also passed its compatibility checks.

The defect was captured from a live session. The fix was built and installed
locally; a full in-game playthrough of the corrected encounter is still pending.
See build-info.json for source, binary and installer-test details, and
SHA256SUMS.txt for release asset checksums.

Dawn 0.1.5 — Loadout editor and 1AU fixes

Choose a tag to compare

@isinternets isinternets released this 19 Sep 15:33
8efb30f

Dawn 0.1.5

Stable release of the same DLL, scripts, and installer published in 0.1.4-test1. Only the package version and release notes have changed. Source commit: 8efb30f059cc1df1e662b2b33a0aabf8277fe69b.

Included

  • Rebuilt loadout editor with live apply, redesigned item cards and tooltips, an editable side panel, armor stat rolls, perk filtering, attunement selection, and inventory/armory improvements.
  • Editor changes refresh connected clients without restarting. The first apply in a session backs up the player database under Dawn/editor-backups.
  • Additional UI fonts and symbols load from the existing game's fonts directory. Game fonts and game files are not bundled.
  • 1AU entrance repairs compiled into C++: Ghost console ownership, duplicate bridge cleanup from the correct device callback, and automatic door authority. Includes partial roster updates and region transition fixes.
  • Removes the identified early pipe enemy. Keeps the Darkness Zone presentation with individual respawns, without 1AU death wipes or the escape-timeout wipe.
  • Omega hotfixes for roster lookup and the unintended progress ring.

Install or update

Requires Destiny 2 build 86657.20.08.23.1800.d2_rc and the complete game packages.

  1. Download Dawn-0.1.5.zip under Assets and extract the entire ZIP.
  2. Close Destiny 2.
  3. Existing Dawn users: run Update-Dawn.cmd to preserve saves and settings. Use Install-Dawn.cmd only for a fresh profile.
  4. Select the game folder containing destiny2.exe, then launch the game normally after the installer finishes.

If you already use 0.1.4-test1, this release has identical gameplay code and content. Updating changes the installed release label to 0.1.5.

The installer keeps a rollback backup under .dawn/release-backups. GitHub's automatic Source code ZIP is for developers; players need the named installer ZIP above.

Verification

The original build passed eight regression suites and 23 installer checks. This promotion verified that all 45 runtime payload files and every installer file are unchanged from 0.1.4-test1; those tests were not rerun for the version-only promotion.

This combined build has not received a local in-game playtest. The editor's legacy visual-test target references the removed editor implementation and was not run. Please report the mission/page, steps to reproduce, and whether the problem also occurs after a full game restart.

Build and automated-test details are attached as build-info.json. Asset hashes are in SHA256SUMS.txt. Source is available at the release tag and the exact source commit.

Dawn 0.1.4-test1 — Loadout editor and 1AU fixes

Choose a tag to compare

@isinternets isinternets released this 19 Sep 14:43
8efb30f

Dawn 0.1.4-test1

Public test build from production commit 8efb30f059cc1df1e662b2b33a0aabf8277fe69b, including merged PR #6 and the 1AU integration. This is a prerelease; the stable 0.1.3 hotfix remains available.

  • 1AU entrance repairs compiled into C++: Ghost console ownership, duplicate bridge cleanup from the correct device callback, automatic door authority, partial roster updates, and region transitions.

  1. Download Dawn-0.1.4-test1.zip under Assets and extract the entire ZIP.

The installer keeps a rollback backup under .dawn/release-backups. GitHub's automatic Source code ZIP is for developers; players need the named installer ZIP above.

Test focus

  • Cold-start 1AU: the bridge should be hidden before the console, then deploy after the Ghost scan. Check the next automatic doors and repeat a fresh mission load.
  • Die in a 1AU Darkness Zone and check that individual respawn retains encounter progress.
  • In the loadout editor, test live equipment/perk changes, armor stat editing, subclass attunement, and adding inventory items. Check that the running game receives the edits.
  • Replay Omega's portal transition and check its objective display.

This combined build has not received a local in-game playtest. The editor's legacy visual-test target still references the removed editor implementation, so it does not provide automated visual coverage of the redesign. Please report the mission/page, steps to reproduce, and whether the problem also occurs after a full game restart.

Build and automated-test details are attached as build-info.json. Asset hashes are in SHA256SUMS.txt. Source is available at the release tag and the exact production commit.

Updating an existing installation

Extract the entire ZIP, close Destiny 2, and run Update-Dawn.cmd.
Choose the game folder containing destiny2.exe.

The included Update-Dawn.ps1 preserves existing Dawn saves, inventory, identity, settings, and custom files while updating the DLL and packaged content. It creates a full backup and supports preview (-WhatIf) and rollback (-Restore). Older Dawn databases upgrade automatically on first launch.

Install-Dawn.cmd starts a fresh save. Use it only when you want a fresh installation or reset.

Requirements and checks

Requires Destiny 2 build 86657.20.08.23.1800.d2_rc and Windows PowerShell 5.1 or newer. The game is not included.
