Samaroh 0.19.1 — Expenses: summary for this month, this year or all time

Expenses

  • Summary defaults to this month. The You gave / You got card at the top of the Expenses tab now totals the current calendar month by default, so it answers "how are we doing this month?" at a glance.
  • Switch to this year or all time. A This month / This year / All time switch sits inside the card. Totals follow the date you gave each entry (not when you typed it in), and "this month" / "this year" follow your phone's calendar. Your choice is remembered on this device, including after you close and reopen the app.
  • Summary text always fits on one line. Large amounts, the You gave / You got labels and the switch labels shrink to fit instead of wrapping or getting cut off — on narrow phones, with large font sizes and in Hindi.

Notes

  • Per-party balances in the list below the card are unchanged and still cover all time.
  • Members who cannot view amounts still see the masked value in every period; the switch itself is available to everyone.
  • Works fully offline — the totals are computed from entries saved on the device.

v0.19.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 30 Sep 18:13

Samaroh 0.19.0 — Files: rename, move & a better folder picker

Files

  • Rename files. Long-press a file → Rename. The dialog opens with the current name (extension included) ready to edit. Folders can be renamed as before, and renames now carry over to the Google Drive copy where possible.
  • Move files and folders. Long-press → Move to… picks the destination. Moving a folder takes everything inside it along. The picker tells you at once when a spot won’t work — already in this folder, a folder can’t go inside itself, too deep, or a folder with this name is already there — and the Move button stays off until you choose a valid place. Moves are mirrored to Google Drive where possible.
  • Root-first folder picker. Choosing a folder (Move to…, Save to Files from the share sheet) now starts with just the top-level folders. Folders that contain subfolders show an arrow to expand them one level at a time, so long trees stay readable. “All files” is always selectable, and the current location is preselected.
  • Wider, easier-to-read dialogs. The folder picker and the share chooser use nearly the full width of the screen with a larger font and compact rows.
  • Files open directly. Tapping a document, PDF or other file now opens it straight in an app on your phone (a chooser appears if you have more than one) — no more Google Drive account prompt. If no app can open that type you get a clear message. Images still open in the built-in viewer, and Open in Google Drive stays available for when you want the Drive page.
  • Everything works offline: renames and moves are saved on the device and sync when you are back online.

Notes

  • Who can do what: renaming and moving folders follows the Manage folders permission; renaming and moving files follows the Delete files permission, plus members who can upload may rename or move their own uploads.
  • Business owners: moving files/folders needs the latest database update (010_files_rename_move.sql) applied to your Supabase project; renames work without it.

Samaroh 0.18.1 — sync fix

If you were signed out, sign in again — your pending changes then sync automatically.

Sync & account

  • The app now tells you when you are signed out: a banner at the top, a red cloud icon in the title bar, and a clear notice on the Sync status screen — each with a Sign in button. Previously a lost sign-in was silent and changes quietly failed to reach the cloud.
  • Menu → the identity row shows Sign in whenever there is no account signed in on this device.
  • Nothing is pushed or pulled while signed out; every change you make stays safely on the device, listed under Sync status → “N changes waiting for sign-in”, and syncs on its own the moment you sign back in with the same account. No data is lost and nothing needs to be re-entered.
  • Signing in again from the banner keeps your existing data — it does not restart setup. If you came in from the banner, “Continue without an account” simply returns you to the app.
  • Sync no longer starts before your saved sign-in has finished loading on app launch.

Notes

  • Everything else is unchanged from 0.18.0. Update, open the app, and sign in if it asks you to.

v0.18.0 — Files tab

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 29 Sep 23:47

Samaroh 0.18.0 — Files tab

Before installing

  1. Apply the shared database migration first: run 009_files_tab.sql (from samaroh-shared/supabase/migrations/) against your Supabase project — e.g. supabase db push. The app syncs the new folders, files and folder_access tables and will not work correctly against a project that hasn't been migrated.
  2. Grant Files permissions to members: after migrating, open Menu → Members and enable the new Files permissions (view / upload / delete / manage folders) for each member who should see the tab. Existing members have no Files access until you grant it.

Files (new)

  • New Files tab: file storage for your business, backed by the business's Google Drive. Organise documents in folders with breadcrumbs, switch between grid and list views, and open files in a viewer.
  • Upload any file type using the system picker; uploads are staged offline and sent when you're online.
  • Search across all your files from the Files tab.
  • Per-folder access: folder owners can restrict a folder to selected members.
  • Share to Samaroh: sharing from another app now offers a chooser — Add to inventory (item photo) or Save to Files — with a folder picker that includes New folder so you can file it in one step.

Navigation

  • Files now sits in the bottom bar.
  • Menu (Settings, Reports, Members, Sync, About) has moved behind the three-dot button in the title bar, next to the sync icon.

Permissions

  • New Files permission keys: files.view, files.upload, files.delete, files.manage_folders. manage_folders defaults to the member's upload value when unset; the Staff preset grants it.
  • The Members permission editor shows the new Files actions.

Other

  • Files records use server-assigned creation timestamps so ordering is consistent across devices.
  • Documentation and design records updated (ADR-085 Files module, ADR-086 unified share chooser, ADR-087 Menu in title bar).

Full changes: v0.17.0…v0.18.0.

v0.17.0

Expenses

  • Remove bills from an entry. Editing an entry now shows its saved bills alongside newly added ones, each with a small ✕. Removal takes effect when you tap Save (Back keeps everything), exactly like the web app. The 4-bill limit counts kept and new bills together.
  • Bills removed elsewhere now disappear here too. A bill removed on the web app (or on another phone) stayed visible on this device after sync. Sync now also fetches bill removals, so every device shows the same set of bills after its next sync. The first sync after updating catches up on past removals automatically.

Inventory

  • Search the item list. The Item List screen has the same search box as the stock screen — type any part of a name (case doesn't matter) to filter live, with a clear message when nothing matches.

Reliability

  • Deleting and re-adding a person or item with the same name works again. Earlier, a deleted name could keep blocking the new one from syncing (server-side rule updated; nothing to do on your device).

Notes

  • Checklist ticks show up instantly. The note popup now follows the live note, so a checkbox ticked anywhere — inline on a card or inside the popup — is reflected immediately instead of showing a stale snapshot. Editing also starts from the live copy.
  • Checked items are struck through in the note popup (view and edit) and on card previews, so finished work is visible at a glance.
  • Drag to reorder checklists. Long-press any checklist row and drag it to a new position, with clear pickup visuals; the new order is saved on drop. Items are now added through a quick add-field at the bottom of the list (Enter adds and keeps the cursor there) — rows are no longer edited in place, matching the web app.
  • Trashing a note unpins it. A trashed note leaves the pinned row and stays unpinned on restore — re-pinning is always your explicit choice.
  • Cleaner note popup. The redundant "Tags" heading is gone from the view popup; the tag chips speak for themselves.

Permissions

  • Finer notes permissions per member. Owners can now separately control who may see checklists (vs. notes in general) and who may tick checklist items. Unset values sensibly inherit from the member's note view/edit permissions, and the members matrix shows and edits the effective values.

Backups

  • Daily backups now include notes, tags and event types — closing a disaster-recovery gap so a restore brings back your complete business data. An internal schema guard now ensures future data types can never be silently left out of the backup again.

v0.16.1

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Sep 02:12

Notes

  • Roomier note popup — the note dialog now stretches nearly edge to edge, giving your text and checklists much more room.
  • Cleaner note creation — the pin toggle no longer appears while creating a new note, decluttering the header; pinning is still available when viewing or editing an existing note.
  • Drag to reorder checklist items — long-press an item's checkbox to pick it up (with a haptic tick), then drag it to its new position. Replaces the old one-step move-up arrow.
  • Tidier checklist rows — smaller per-item remove buttons that read clearly apart from the dialog's close button and leave more room for your text.

v0.16.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Sep 00:38

What's new in 0.16.0

Notes

  • The notes grid now fills left to right by recency — the newest note sits top-left, the next beside it, and so on row by row — instead of stacking recent notes into whichever column happened to be shortest.
  • The notes drawer now opens at a sensible width instead of covering almost the whole screen, and long tag lists scroll within it.

Permissions & sync

  • Business settings are tightened for members without management access: the profile screen is read-only (save, logo and field editing hidden), and the app no longer queues changes the server would reject.
  • Sync items stuck with errors can now be discarded, with confirmation — the queued change is removed and the server's version is restored on the next sync.

Interface

  • Long business names now shrink to fit the top bar on a single line instead of wrapping and making the bar taller.

v0.15.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 10 Sep 22:33

What's new in v0.15.0

🗒️ New: Notes tab

A full notes workspace joins the bottom bar:

  • Notes & checklists — jot quick notes or tick-off lists; blank checklist lines are stripped automatically and never clutter previews.
  • Colours & pinning — colour-code notes and pin the important ones to the top of the grid.
  • Tags — add tags with type-ahead suggestions (including "Create …" for new ones), and manage them from the drawer: rename inline or delete with a linked-note count confirmation.
  • Search — live search across your notes.
  • Completed & Trash — finished and trashed notes live in their own drawer sections; trashed notes can be restored and are auto-purged after 30 days.
  • Share — send a note's text through the system share sheet.
  • Per-member permissions — separate view and edit permissions; the tab stays hidden for members without access.
  • Offline-first — everything works offline and syncs across devices, like the rest of the app.

🧾 Create invoice from a shared image

Share an image or PDF from any app and pick Create invoice: choose the party and land on a new expense entry with the bill already attached — works whether the app was running or not.

📅 Booking

  • Marker days (Lagan, Tilak, …) no longer trigger double-booking warnings when adding, editing or restoring — only real bookings count as occupancy.
  • The booking form's colour picker is now a compact one-line row of colour dots.

✨ Polish

  • A new compact colour-dot picker is used across booking and notes — scrollable, with clear selection and default indicators.
  • Saving an empty brand-new note simply dismisses it instead of creating a blank note.

Samaroh v0.14.1

Reminders

  • Reminders now play your device's default notification sound out of the box — no more silent reminders. If you previously picked a specific sound, your choice is kept.
  • Choosing "Default" in the reminder sound picker now follows the system default, so the reminder sound updates automatically if you later change your phone's notification sound.
  • Full-screen reminder styles ("Full screen when locked" and "Always full screen") now repeat the sound until you dismiss or open the reminder — so an alarm-style reminder can't be missed from across the hall. The plain "Notification" style keeps its single, unobtrusive chime. Do Not Disturb is always respected.

Menu

  • New search bar at the top of the Menu tab: type a few letters to instantly find any setting, report or screen in the app, and jump straight to it. Search works in both English and हिंदी — matching either language regardless of the language the app is set to.
