Rename files. Long-press a file → Rename. The dialog opens with the current name (extension included) ready to edit. Folders can be renamed as before, and renames now carry over to the Google Drive copy where possible.
Move files and folders. Long-press → Move to… picks the destination. Moving a folder takes everything inside it along. The picker tells you at once when a spot won’t work — already in this folder, a folder can’t go inside itself, too deep, or a folder with this name is already there — and the Move button stays off until you choose a valid place. Moves are mirrored to Google Drive where possible.
Root-first folder picker. Choosing a folder (Move to…, Save to Files from the share sheet) now starts with just the top-level folders. Folders that contain subfolders show an arrow to expand them one level at a time, so long trees stay readable. “All files” is always selectable, and the current location is preselected.
Wider, easier-to-read dialogs. The folder picker and the share chooser use nearly the full width of the screen with a larger font and compact rows.
Files open directly. Tapping a document, PDF or other file now opens it straight in an app on your phone (a chooser appears if you have more than one) — no more Google Drive account prompt. If no app can open that type you get a clear message. Images still open in the built-in viewer, and Open in Google Drive stays available for when you want the Drive page.
Everything works offline: renames and moves are saved on the device and sync when you are back online.
Notes
Who can do what: renaming and moving folders follows the Manage folders permission; renaming and moving files follows the Delete files permission, plus members who can upload may rename or move their own uploads.
Business owners: moving files/folders needs the latest database update (010_files_rename_move.sql) applied to your Supabase project; renames work without it.
