Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 22 Oct 15:17

Includes stable 0.0.34 strict evaluation and lossless RPC contracts, shared tab discovery with scope/counts/pagination, and invalid-response detection. Fixes debugger cleanup after WebContents destruction. Verified with 31 tests, real Electron MCP flows and the installed npm package inside app.asar. openTabs now returns an envelope; read items.

Install with npm install @jackwener/browsermcp@0.0.35-embedded.0 and import @jackwener/browsermcp/embedded from the Electron main process. No setup or Chrome extension is required.

BrowserMCP 0.0.34

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 22 Oct 15:10

Enforce strict evaluate options and lossless REPL call transport. Separate user data from internal RPC references. Return explicit tab discovery scope, counts and pagination using shared backend contracts. Reject malformed backend responses. Protocol revision 4 requires updating host and extension together; read openTabs results from items.

Manual Chrome extension installation

Download browsermcp-extension-manual-install-0.0.25.zip, extract it, then open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode, and choose Load unpacked on the extracted folder. Disable the Chrome Web Store copy first if it is installed.

Install with npm install @jackwener/browsermcp@0.0.34-embedded.3 and import @jackwener/browsermcp/embedded from the Electron main process. No setup or Chrome extension is required.

BrowserMCP 0.0.34-embedded.2

Pre-release

@jackwener jackwener released this 22 Oct 07:22
  • Preserve logical tab identity, session ownership and retention across WebContents replacement.
  • Define host-owned create/load/close callbacks and explicit attach/detach lifecycle operations.
  • Report structured host failures with recoverable tab state; protect cleanup against invalid keep entries.
  • Add handle-based deliverable/handoff retention and safe local remote-method inspection.
  • Verify background duplicate claims, host failure recovery and installed ASAR execution.

Install with npm install @jackwener/browsermcp@0.0.34-embedded.2 and import @jackwener/browsermcp/embedded from the Electron main process. No setup or Chrome extension is required.

BrowserMCP 0.0.34-embedded.1

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@jackwener jackwener released this 20 Oct 17:52
  • Model host tabs independently of WebContents, with stable logical IDs, explicit active selection, metadata updates and lazy loading.
  • Expose typed host events and snapshots with public MCP session IDs; reserve ownership during loading and roll back or cancel failed/revoked claims.
  • Unify tab state across MCP and Chrome APIs, and default MCP version to the installed package version.
  • Migration: use registerPage handles and reported tabId values; tabId no longer equals webContents.id. Synchronize host selection with setActivePage(scope, handle).
  • Share runtime isolation, storage injection, package version resolution and release infrastructure with main.

Install with npm install @jackwener/browsermcp@0.0.34-embedded.1 and import @jackwener/browsermcp/embedded from the Electron main process. No setup or Chrome extension is required.

@jackwener jackwener released this 20 Oct 17:40
  • Add the embedded Electron SDK with host-owned storage, profiles and page lifecycle.
  • Support MCP sessions, adapter creation and updates, Chrome API compatibility and CDP in embedded Chromium.
  • Import @jackwener/browsermcp/embedded without CLI setup or a Chrome extension.

Install with npm install @jackwener/browsermcp@0.0.34-embedded.0 and import @jackwener/browsermcp/embedded from the Electron main process. No setup or Chrome extension is required.

BrowserMCP 0.0.33

Choose a tag to compare

@jackwener jackwener released this 19 Oct 21:53

BrowserMCP 0.0.33 makes browser observations and actions easier for agents to compose.

  • Reuse observed element refs across frames in observe, find, read, act, and expect.
  • Verify target values, checked/selected states, visibility, enabled state, and text with actual evidence.
  • Pass returned continuation arguments, popup entries, and download results directly into follow-up calls.
  • Discover changed WebMCP catalogs during observation; fetch full schemas only when needed.
  • Standardize BrowserMCP runtime paths and simplify configuration.

Upgrade

Install @jackwener/browsermcp@0.0.33, update BrowserMCP Connector to 0.0.25, run browsermcp setup, and restart your MCP client. Native Messaging now uses com.browsermcp.host and local configuration lives in ~/.browsermcp. Previous OpenCLI directories and client entries are not migrated automatically.

Manual Chrome extension installation

Download browsermcp-extension-manual-install-0.0.25.zip, extract it, open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode, and choose Load unpacked on the extracted folder. Disable the Chrome Web Store copy first if installed.

opencli-mcp 0.0.31

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 19 Oct 18:06
  • Probe browser health before creating MCP sessions. Automatically choose a responsive host when multiple instances share one browserId; preserve already connected sessions.
  • Diagnose each host independently and retire hosts whose extension stops responding. Bound shutdown and handle native pipe errors.
  • Move extension ping outside page/session initialization. Ship extension 0.0.23.

Upgrade note: reload the extension after upgrading npm to restart the native host with the new IPC handshake, then restart the MCP client.

  • Page observations across the main document and child frames under one output budget, with explicit cursors over an immutable capture. Remove recursive branch folding that could hide the same branch on every expansion.
  • Scope observations directly with existing locators or refs, and remove inert ARIA wrappers while preserving names, states, refs and explanatory text.
  • Describe observation continuation in the MCP tool itself; distinguish output pagination, frame capture coverage, long-text fragments and abbreviated metadata.

Manual Chrome extension installation

Download opencli-mcp-extension-manual-install-0.0.23.zip, extract it, then open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode, and choose Load unpacked on the extracted folder. Disable the Chrome Web Store copy first if it is installed.

opencli-mcp 0.0.30

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 14 Oct 02:57
  • Replace the local HTTP bridge with MCP over Unix domain sockets / Windows named pipes; remove port, token, and remote MCP configuration.
  • Reuse initialized host connections, keep each client session isolated, and reconnect to the same browser profile. Report session loss explicitly and never replay interrupted operations.
  • Distinguish browser selection from connection failures and reclaim stale IPC endpoints after host crashes.
  • Preserve explicitly organized tab groups through session cleanup.
  • Remove unused dependencies and frame-session code; consolidate extension packaging.

Upgrade note: this release requires extension 0.0.22 alongside npm package 0.0.30. Update both, then reload the extension and restart your MCP client to switch from the old HTTP launcher to local IPC. Existing MCP stdio command configuration stays the same. Windows named pipes have not been verified on a Windows machine.

Manual Chrome extension installation

Download opencli-mcp-extension-manual-install-0.0.22.zip, extract it, then open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode, and choose Load unpacked on the extracted folder. Disable the Chrome Web Store copy first if it is installed.

  • test: trim suite to core integration coverage
  • fix: preserve input semantics and verify settled control values

Manual Chrome extension installation

Download opencli-mcp-extension-manual-install-0.0.21.zip, extract it, then open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode, and choose Load unpacked on the extracted folder. Disable the Chrome Web Store copy first if it is installed.
