All of the changes have been annotated in the code with comments. I'll give it a full 1.0 release when I can get around to writing a proper readme and maybe see it tested on more platforms.
I've been able to test these changes in a project of mine using a Teensy 4.1. Everything worked as intended in that use case on code that ran from just a few minutes to hours at a time without losing beat/count. If anyone does try it out feel free to give feedback or let me know how it worked on whichever mc you use.
