What's new in 0.6.9
Added
- Sponsor link in the footer. The bottom bar now has a Sponsor link to jepoy.dev/sponsor, the same page as the Sponsor button on GitHub.
- Mac downloads are back. Each release now has a Mac version for Apple Silicon and Intel. It is not signed with an Apple Developer ID yet, so open it once and then click Open Anyway in System Settings › Privacy & Security. Smooth motion is not available in the Mac version until it is signed.
Fixed
- Cancelling an export never destroys an earlier file. Exports are finished in a temporary file and replace the old one only when complete; before, cancelling a re-export without audio left a broken file in place of the good one.
- A crashed export no longer blocks the next one. If the export window crashed, the video encoder kept running and kept the file locked until you restarted Drama Studio.
- Automatic backups reach back about 50 minutes, not 5. The 10 backup copies are now at least 5 minutes apart.
- Closing Drama Studio no longer loses your latest edits. It now saves the open project before the window closes. Before, changes made since the last autosave (up to 30 seconds by default) could be lost on quit.
- Edits made while the project was saving are kept. If you changed something during a save, it could be marked as saved without being written, and a timeline you added during a save could disappear.
- Media with # or % in the file name plays and exports. Clips like "Scene #1.mp4" showed as black in the preview and failed in export.
- Captioning, upscaling and lip-sync work on long videos. Videos are sent to ComfyUI straight from disk, so files over 2 GB no longer fail and large files no longer use double the memory.
- Long audio no longer uses lots of memory for its waveform. Drawing the waveform of a one-hour clip briefly used about 460 MB; it now uses a few MB, and waveforms from earlier in the session no longer pile up.
- An AI agent can no longer restore a checkpoint from a different project. Before, it could switch you back to the other project and drop the open project's unsaved edits.
- On a Mac, cancelling the "ComfyUI is still running" question on quit no longer makes the next window close quit Drama Studio.
Security
- The local caption engine is checked before it runs. Drama Studio downloads it on first use and now refuses a download that is not exactly the expected file.
Removed
- The hidden Flow AI, MoGraph and Agent workspaces, which could no longer be opened. Projects that contain Flow AI data still open normally.

What's new in 0.6.7
Added
- Report a bug from the app. Click Report a bug at the top (the bug icon next to Help), describe what went wrong, and Drama Studio opens a filled-in issue on the Drama Studio GitHub page for you to submit, with your version and system info if you want. You can preview everything before it is sent. Also in Ctrl+Shift+P and Settings › Send Feedback.
- Drama Studio updates itself. It checks for a new version shortly after it starts and every few hours. The Windows installer and the Linux AppImage download the update in the background and install it when you restart, or the next time you quit; your project is saved first. The portable Windows app, the Linux .deb and the Mac app tell you when a new version is out and open the download page. See your version, check now, or turn off automatic downloads in Settings › Updates.
Security
- Only Drama Studio can use its own file and settings access. Requests to read or write files, change settings or start tools are refused unless they come from Drama Studio's own window, and its windows can no longer be sent to local files or other kinds of links. Web and email links still open in your browser.
- External MCP is off by default and requires a private bearer token when enabled. The built-in Assistant remains available without the HTTP listener.
- Assistant provider keys use OS-backed encryption. Existing plaintext keys migrate atomically when the keychain is available; cloud requests fail closed while keys are locked.
- Pull requests and release preflight run the security boundary and Assistant regression suites.
Fixed
- Assistant guidance now supports GPL open-source contributors instead of describing the app as proprietary.

Drama Studio v0.6.6
Immutable
release. Only release title and notes can be modified.
Downloads
Windows Installer: the standard install for most peopleWindows Portable: runs without installingLinux AppImage: portable Linux buildLinux deb: Debian/Ubuntu package
Mac builds are not part of this release yet.

What's new in 0.6.6
Security
- Codex stays locked down after updates. When the Assistant uses your ChatGPT subscription, every Codex feature it does not need is switched off, including ones added in newer Codex versions. If Codex still tries to run a command, open a file or use another tool, the Assistant stops and tells you, and nothing is changed. Codex no longer loads your own Codex memories, skills or settings for these answers, and you stay signed in to Codex as before.
Also since 0.1.31
0.6.5 and earlier 0.6.x builds were not published, so this release also brings:
- Drama Studio is open source, free software under the GNU GPL v3.
- The Help Center in Japanese.
- Use your Claude or ChatGPT subscription for the Assistant, with no API key, and switch the Assistant's AI from the Assistant itself.
- Idea Pad Story Board: acts across, plotlines down, beats and scenes in order, with your cast.
- Drama Studio Companion shows all its supported sites, and Drama Studio and the Companion now share one version number.
The full list is in CHANGELOG.md.
Notes
- Editing, captions and export work without ComfyUI. Local AI generation needs a ComfyUI installation; choose Continue without ComfyUI on first launch to use cloud tools only.
