Class-dependent pickups 4.0

Choose a tag to compare

@jekyllgrim jekyllgrim released this 16 Feb 15:56

Changelog

  • Minimum ZScript version raised to 4.12.0.
  • When spawned in the world, the pickups will now actually be spawned, but visible only to the relevant player classes. This means that instead of copying the first sprite from the target pickup, the pickups will copy everything, including animation, brightmaps, 3D models, etc. Note, the pickups spawned this way will never respawn.

@jekyllgrim jekyllgrim released this 14 Jun 18:21

Changelog

  • Refactored and streamlined the process of receiving the final item from the class-dependent pickup. The pickup will now properly call Touch() when the item is received from world, or CallTryPickup() when received directly. This means:
    • Any behavir in the final item's Touch() override will work as intended.
    • The mugshot will properly use its "grin" state if the pickup is a weapon.
    • The class-dependent pickup can be give directly through scripts or cheats, and the correct pickup will be given to the player depending on their playerclass.
    • The class-dependent pickup will not be picked up when not supposed to (for example, if you already have maximum amount of it).
  • Restructured the library. Example classes are now in a separate file, and all of the main code is now in a CDP_ZScript directory.
  • Added MIT License (see LICENSE.txt).

A complete rewrite that makes the system more flexible and extendable. Custom items with custom playerclass/itemclass pairs can now be created by inheriting from the base item and defining the pairs with the ClassPairs argument. A static Create function was also added to spawn items with custom pairs dynamically.
