ProjectionScreens

What Projection Screens can be used?

The VOP expects a standard HDMI connected screen. It expects it in HDMI-0. And when the VOP is booted up, it will check that port, and if it finds a screen there. It will ask for the EDID handshake info so it knows the available resolutions and try to pick the highest native one.

So far, I have tested the VOP with two screens. One 1920x1080p 16:9 screen. And a 2160x1440p 3:2 screen. Both work just fine. Both are low cost screens. I prefer the 3:2 for its higher resolution and since it's 3:2, it fills out more of the resolution of the camera.

Can you use an actual projector for the projector side?

I guess, yes. It's just a surface that the VOP can put an image onto. I don't know exactly how you'd do that though. Maybe a rear screen projection, like they used to do with rotoscope rigs. Or maybe front projection through a beam splitter?

One wild idea would be to remove the screen entirely and push the light directly from the projector into the camera like the Optical Printers the project is named for.

It's not an avenue I have the means to explore right now. But hey, if you have money to potentially waste and spare time. Test it. Just let me know how it went.
