Joe provides laptops and monitors for PhD students (after rotations) and postdocs. Please tell Christina if you have any special hardware preferences a couple of months before arriving.
After your laptop arrives, IT will take 2-3 days to set it up. After you pick up your computer, you can submit a ticket on The Spot to solve IT issues, install GlobalVPN for connecting to MSK servers from home, or add Follow Me Printing to allow you to use multiple printers across MSK (including the fast and high-quality printer next to Kate).
IT asks that you do not save any files locally, but to your pre-installed OneDrive folder. OneDrive accommodates a normal local folder structure, but syncs files continuously with your OneDrive cloud account, providing security, backup and portable access via OneMSK or OneDrive online.

All computers initialized by IT contain the suite of Microsoft Office tools, including Microsoft Teams for video calls and chat across MSK. You can use the installed 'Self Service' app to download a lot of relevant software (including Acrobat, Endnote, Microsoft 365, GraphPad, Fiji). In addition, you have access to a free:
- Microsoft Office 365 account for creating documents, spreadsheets, presentations through any web browser, and live-editing by multiple users. Use your MSK credentials to log in
- Box enterprise account for secure file sharing within and outside of MSK. Use your MSK credentials to log in
- Overleaf upgrade account, which includes track-changes and unlimited collaborators. Simply create a user with your MSKCC e-mail address as username
- Illustrator account through Adobe Creative Cloud. Use your MSK credentials to log in, then download Illustrator
- Workday is your portal for employment records
- OneMSK is a large online database that allows you to search for people, policies and documents across MSK
- The Spot is used to submit helpdesk tickets for most IT or HR related matters
- Connecting to an MSK server (in office or via VPN) gives you institutional access to online journals and the SCOPUS and Web of Science citation databases
Never send any personal health information (PHI) of any kind (e.g. patient or human subject names, Medical Record Numbers, addresses, etc.) from a non-MSK e-mail. Always use "MSKSecure" when emailing PHI outside of MSK (to authorized recipients only).
