FERAL TRAINER

Feral Trainer is a comprehensive but modular set of Plugins for Pokemon Essentials v21.1 that add a number of RPG-friendly gameplay functions to help creators create different kinds of games. It consists of six plugins; all but one require the plugin Feral Terminal. One plugin, Feral Tamer, is a standalone and does not require any other plugins.

bagPocket4 FERAL TERMINAL

Required install - manages the other Feral Trainer plugins and adds many of their individual attributes, as well as some methods and scripts used across multiple other Feral Trainer plugins.

Current implementation status: v1.0 complete, pending release as part of Wave 2.

  • Initial Release: 1.0 (Green) - Release Date TBD, est. Sept/Oct 2026 (Wave 2)

bagPocket7 FERAL TERRAIN

Expands terrain tags by introducing a number of new terrain tag functions including (but not limited to) Forced Movement, Splashes, Sinking (Marshes), Terrain Damage, Terrain-Handled Whirlpools, Pits and Ladders.

Current implementation status: Large-scale bugfixes after migrating data-handling methods required; features implemented but rudimentary.

  • Initial Release: 1.0 (Gold) - Release Date TBD, est. Oct/Nov 2026 (Wave 3)

bagPocket8 FERAL TOOLS

Adds environmental interactors in the form of tools to expand dungeon and general exploration functions, as well as additional Terrain Tags to support new functions those tools interact with. Includes (but not limited to) HM Replacers, Gathering Tools, Disguise Kits, Room Resets, Event Activators and Terrain Manipulators. Many are upgradable to expand functions mid-game.

Current implementation status: Large-scale bugfixes after migrating data-handling methods required; features implemented but rudimentary.

  • Initial Release: 1.0 (Ruby) - Release Date TBD, est. Dec/Jan 2026 (Wave 4)

bagPocket1 FERAL TRADES

Adds a multi-discipline 'blind' crafting system in the style of Star Ocean: The Second Story (i.e. based on the input item not desired output). Implements three varieties of crafting - Single Item (e.g. always Clay for Sculpting), Single Chosen Item (any metal from the bag for Metalwork) and Multiple Chosen Item (combining any two metals from the bag for Blacksmithing). Subvariants exist for Single Chosen Item: Item Duplication (input = output when successful), Item-based (each input has it's own set output list(s)) and Tier-based (multiple inputs contribute to the same output list(s)).

Current working status: final feature implementation (batch crafting, customisable levels) and bugfixes.

  • Initial Release: 1.0 (Diamond) - Release Date TBD, est. Sept/Oct 2026 (Wave 2)

bagPocket5 FERAL TRANSIT

A menu-maker disguised as a build-your-own-Fly alternative. Designed primarily to build menus for systems like Ferries, Taxis and Subways, but robust enough to create Starter Selections, Wardrobes and other simple visual menus.

Current working status: Basic 1.0 features implemented; bugfixes and feel testing.

  • Initial Release: 1.0 (Black) - Release Date TBD, est. Sept/Oct 2026 (Wave 2)

bagPocket6 FERAL TALENTS

A Trainer Card alternative built around adding additional stats and information to the game, with integrated Badge views, a reputation system with tracking and level tracking for Feral Trades. Designed to handle the default Essentials stats and FT suite data primarily but easily modified to add whatever info you like.

Current working status: Basic features implemented and tested, implementing final rounds of compatible stat blocks before testing.

  • Initial Release: 1.0 (X) - Release Date TBD, est. Sept/Oct 2026 (Wave 2)

bagPocket3 FERAL TAMER (Standalone)

Adds adaptations of the Convert/Research function and Evolution Menus from the Digimon Story games to PE. The evolution menu has handling for Fusions, Form Changes and Devolution. A standalone plugin; a few shared bits of code with Feral Terminal have been made unique to avoid conflicts.

Current working status: released as part of Wave 1. Feature updates pending work on other plugins.

bagPocket9 FERAL TANK (Standalone)

A basic, standalone equipment setup for your Pokemon! Adds a new equipment definition to every Pokemon, and a new menu for managing equipment (and traditional held items)! 1.1 adjusts stats, natures (for stat calculations only) and move learning - at this stage, equipment impacting move effects, associated item effects etc will be left to developers. Includes Auto-ReEquip for consumed Held Items.

Current working status: released as part of Wave 1. Feature updates pending work on other plugins.

OTHER PLUGINS

Feral Suite Add-Ons

FERAL CAMERA (File Structure) - a unified file directory setup for plugins that use the Feral Camera system.

New Features

DEX ART (Standalone) - adds a new Pokemon Sprite style called 'Art', handled the same way as e.g. Front and Back sprites. Default methods add these to the Pokedex.

KEYRING (Standalone) - store your keys (or similar) in a simple string rather than having them clog up your Key Items!

EMOTION SEEKER (Standalone) - see the true feelings of your NPCs (or something else if you'd prefer!)

Quality of Life

UNIVERSAL HM/TMS (Standalone) - makes it possible to designate moves as universally learnable rather than requiring them be present in every Pokemon's TutorMoves list.

TRANSFER PLUS (Standalone) - slight tweak to the default Essentials transfer handling that incorporates built-in 'location splashes', in the vein of FR/LG.

EGGS PLUS (Standalone) - adds Flag and Type checks to the method that determines Egg Graphics.

COLOUR MATCHED 'MON ICONS (Graphic Pack) - recolours the default PE v21.1 icon sprites (ripped from the games, which use a limited palette) to match the correct front sprite colours.

Neglected Menu Updates

HALL OF FAME PLUS (Standalone) - adds additional Halls of Fame, so you can beat multiple Pokemon Leagues!

LOAD SCREEN PLUS (Standalone) - easily modify your load screen by adding BGM, themes and the Feral Camera background system!

TRIPLE TRIAD MENU PLUS (Standalone) - gives the Triple Triad menu an overhaul using the Feral Camera system.

Ideas I'm playing with but are not in the release pipeline and may never happen so are free to a good home (no further than just some on-paper sketching of how they might work - feel free to DM me on reddit or Eevee Expo if you'd like my notes):

  • War Table - in-game time-based passive missions.
  • Memory Chain Dungeon - unlock rooms on a grid map by consuming tokens that change the room. A semi-roguelike mode based on Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories.
  • Licence Grid - trade BP to expand across a grid, unlocking new moves as an alternative to TMs/HMs etc.
    • Possibly integrate with Feral Tank to allow unlocking bonuses on Pokemon-specific boards?

AI USE DISCLOSURE: No AI was used in the creation of this plugin suite; the code is an absolute mess that looks like a beginner wrote it because I am an absolute mess who learned Ruby by making this suite. I might actually be able to fix any bugs because I bothered to know how it works.
